The player is Geralt of Rivia, a professional
monster slayer, a witcher. Entangled in the political turmoil that engulfed
Temeria, Geralt helped quell the rebellion of the Order of the Flaming Rose.
Soon after, he saved King Foltest’s life when the monarch was attacked by a
witcher-like assassin. He continues to protect the king, serving as his
bodyguard as Foltest strives to bring peace to his kingdom. The Order’s last
bastions have yielded to the royal army, yet one more task remains - the
Baroness La Valette announced her secession from the realm, and her fortress
must be taken. A month after the attempted assassination, Foltest’s armies
stand at the gates of La Valette Castle, preparing for a final assault.
Still at Foltest’s side, Geralt is among them, unable to begin his personal
quest to discover the mysterious assassin’s origin and identity…

$600K funding goal with about 10 hours remaining in the crowdsourced fundraising
campaign for Playdek's tactical role-playing game. There are a number of stretch

from Spiders Studios shows off Bound by Flame, the project the developer
calls their "ambitious RPG to date." The clip features a testosterone-heavy
narration to explain in intricate detail all the challenges players will
encounter when exploring their fantasy world of Vertiel. Here's the explanation:
In this overview of the many possibilities Bound by
Flame has to offer, we discover the great freedom of action given
to the
player, where the various decisions and different choices he makes during
his quest or his attitude to the other characters will affect his experience
in the game and the world around him. The player's reaction to the flame
demon that possesses him and his tendency to reject its influence or allow
it to consume his soul to gain more power will also significantly affect his
experience during the adventure and exert a strong influence on his
relationships with his companions and his approach to combat.
This latest video also uses numerous gameplay sequences to reveal a little
more of the spectacular and tactically complex combat in Bound by Flame. The
battles will also be the focus of the next Bound by Flame video trailer to
be released in the coming weeks!

Happy Valentine's Day!
Q: What's the difference between the east coast of the U.S. and Sochi, where the
Winter Olympics are being held? A: We have snow here. And lots of it, as we got
socked with a triple storm yesterday. We now have about two-feet of snow on the
back deck, and in spite of shoveling about a ton of snow yesterday, there's
another ton of it out there to shovel today. Weeeeeee!
And if you missed it, we've had a couple of hardware failures here, and are in the
process of restoring the full functionality of the site from a backup, which is
probably going to be a several day process. In the meantime we're partying like
it's 1995, with a static HTML page and none of the bleeding edge sophisticated blammo database wizardry we've grown used to, so the forums, RSS feed, search
and the like won't be back until all this is straightened out. Apologies for the
issues, and thanks to the many of you who have expressed support and
encouragement while we work things out. And importantly, thanks for Frans, who
is working very hard behind the scenes to set everything straight once again.
