Gearbox Software offers details on
Headhunter 5: Sir Hammerlock Versus the Son of Crawmerax, the final DLC
for
Borderlands 2 which is planned for release in April for the role-playing
shooter sequel. They offer a
trailer on IGN discussing the project and showing some gameplay, and here's
a bit of what they describe: Join Sir Hammerlock along with Brick,
Mordecai, and Lilith on a relaxing vacation on Wam Bam Island as you play the
biggest Headhunter add-on in the series. At first, everything appears peaceful
as Sir Hammerlock shows off his homemade brew and talks about the latest in
Varkid tracking… that is, until tragedy strikes when a monstrously large beast
kidnaps the scholarly hunter and pulls him underground. Fortunately, Crazy Earl
and Mordecai are on hand to help recover the mustached colleague, provided you
do a few favors for them first.
Wadjet Eye Games
announces
first details on The Blackwell Epiphany, the fifth and final
installment in their Blackwell series of mystery games. They say this is "coming
soon" to Windows PCs, serve up
a teaser trailer, and
offer the following particulars:
A dead man’s soul cries out against the force of a
ferocious blizzard. He cries for help. He cries for answers. Then he screams
as he is torn apart like damp tissue paper.
This wasn’t the first
time, and it won’t be the last.
The police are powerless to stop it, so the duty falls to the only
ones who can. What force could be so powerful – and so malevolent – that it
would destroy the very core of a life in order to get what it wants? Rosa
Blackwell and Joey Mallone mean to find out, even if it means risking
themselves in the process.
Konami Digital Entertainment details how they are updating Pro Evolution Soccer
2014, starting with a small patch today "to resolve a small number of users who
encountered power dropping during play. In addition to resolving the power
issue, the patch also adds a new camera angle for PES 2014." They also offer
details on a free Data Pack coming later this month to update ratings and add
new content to the association football/soccer simulation. The Data Pack will
also be accompanied by a new patch "to tweak AI and gameplay elements and add a
new camera to the 11 vs 11 mode." Here are details:
The free Data Pack will be available later this
month (February) for PlayStation®3, Xbox 360® and PC versions, and adds a
wide range of new elements to the game. All transfers made during the 2014
January window will be implemented, while a host of new kits, balls, and
boot styles have also been added.
As part of KONAMI’s continued
pledge to bolster its acclaimed simulation’s content, the new download adds
a number of new kits to the game. PES 2014 pays tribute to a selection of
great classic teams including replica kits of the AC Milan side of 1899, the
1982/83 Roma side, Benfica’s all-conquering 1961/62 XI and Manchester
United’s treble-winning 1998/99 strip. Contemporary teams have also been
updated, with the new French, German and Spanish nationals strip updated,
alongside those of AS Roma, FC Porto, Olympiakos and Club Atlético All Boys.

A new video developer diary
from MGXP: The Official Videogame acquaints us with the motion-capture
technology behind Milestone's upcoming motocross game as well as the game's
inclusion of a
Monster Girl for "authenticity." Word is: "The main aim of Dev Diary #1 is
to highlight two of the biggest plus included into this MXGP Videogame Edition.
The first one includes Motion Capture technology, that allows MXGP Players to
experience pure simulation thanks to most realistic riders and bikes’ behavior.
The second main plus is the inclusion; for the first time ever there will be a
Monster Girl in the game that will give a special touch and authenticity of the
Motocross’ atmosphere."
Konami offers another
new weapon video from Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, introducing The
Chaos Claws. Here's word on the one-minute clip: "The Chaos Claws is a powerful
weapon used to destroy the protection of heavily-armored foes. Found quite early
in the game, the fiery gauntlets are used to smash away armor and shields,
leaving the attacker vulnerable. Players can use the Chaos Claws to strip away a
guard’s protection, before sapping their power by switching to the life-giving
Void Sword."
Here's the first teaser
video
from Styx: Master of Shadows, the upcoming Dennis DeYoung-free

assassin and part-time thief is about to scale the dizzying heights of the
colossal Tower of Akenash, in search of valuable items to steal. An expert in
the art of infiltration, Styx also uses this video as an opportunity to showcase

If you are reading this, then the site is back online, apologies for the
downtime. Though my comments about this last night were premature, I am still
hopeful this extended outage will be the end of the recent spate of smaller
outages we've experienced lately. A couple of possibly intertwined hardware
issues came up, and with a replaced PSU and a fresh new storage array hopefully
things are back on track. I put out a couple of updates on the situation along
the way via Twitter, so I can
suggest bookmarking or following that feed for updates should we have a similar
outage going forward, though obviously we hope it won't come to that. This is a
static page while we get the databases back online, so no forums or anything
yet, and it may be several days before everything is completely back in order.
