index shouts that the double XP event planned for the end of the year is
postponed: "THE END OF DECEMBER 2XP EVENT FOR PREMIUM MEMBERS HAS BEEN POSTPONED
AND WILL BE RUN AT A LATER DATE. STAY TUNED FOR MORE INFORMATION. WE APOLOGIZE
FOR THE INCONVENIENCE." This follows a similar broadcast noted on
GameInformer warning of connectivity issues on all platforms for the
military shooter sequel, though it's not certain the two alerts are directly
related. The
Battlefield 4 top issues tracker recently launched to
some fanfare has not been updated since
December 20th, so it's not clear if they are dealing with new or previously
identified issues.
One Of Swords notes a
Beachhead Studio tweet announcing the next Clan War in
Call of Duty:
Ghosts begins tomorrow for the military shooter sequel. Word is: "Calling
all Clans! The next Clan War begins January 1 at 12PM PST/8PM GMT." Here's more
from the post by Dan Amrich: "That gives you two days to strategize, plan, and
make sure you have
the free app
installed, as it’s crucial for keeping track of Clan Wars progress as well as
communicating with your Clan."
Recent posts to the
Respawn Entertainment forum discusses the role of sniper rifles in
Titanfall. With some players expressing concern with how sniping impacts
gameplay in shooters, one of the Respawn developers offers the following
reassurance about how this will be handled in the mech game: "Sniping is in the
game, but due to how the game plays it's a pretty different animal than you'll
find in your run of the mill modern military shooter. Quick scoping and no
scoping are ineffective." Thanks

Happy New Year's Eve, as we bid a fond fondue to the year that was. There are no
regrets here about that, it was kind of a rough year, so the idea that turning
the page on the calendar will help turn the corner on that is appealing. Here's
hoping 2013 was better for you, and that 2014 is even better still for all of
us. And in that vein, please be careful if you are out an about this evening, as
there will be a lot of amateur drinkers doing ill-advised things like operating
motor vehicles, something that can put a damper on any celebration. And to
those of you
already living in the future, please just enjoy your flying cars and don't
spoil anything for the rest of us.
