Archived News:
Telltale Games announces they are working on a new episodic series called
Tales from the Borderlands in collaboration with Gearbox, originators of the
Borderlands role-playing shooter series.
This world premier trailer from Spike's VGX awards shows a couple of new
characters in Sanctuary talking with Marcus about the limited life-span of
non-vault hunters in the region, revealing a 2014 release date, and featuring a
cameo from a character we distinctly remember killing, suggesting this will
either offer a twist on that, or will be a prequel of some sort.

In addition to the announcement above of Telltale's Borderlands game, the
company also used VGX as a platform to confirm recent
indications that they are working on an episodic game series based on Game of Thrones. They
offer
this trailer, which features music from the television series in promising
"an epic new chapter in the saga of Westeros." The only other thing it says
about this is that it's due next year. Continue here to read the full story.
This VGX trailer is captioned being from an "unknown title," though the clip
states its from a game called No Man's Sky from Hello Games ( Joe
Danger), which has someone there confused, as
their videos page refers to it as No Man's Land." The clip shows off some nice
graphics, all the more impressive with their explanation that all the footage
was captured in real-time, and that "every atom" displayed is procedurally
generated, going on to specify the game will procedurally generate every leaf,
tree, bird, fish, rock, ocean, cloud, ruin, star, sun, galaxy, and planet. They
note this makes "every planet unique" and "unexplored." Continue here to read the full story.
The
Roberts Space Industries website has a new letter from the chairman, as
Chris Roberts reacts to Star Citizen's crowd-funding campaign surpassing
the $34 million plateau and unlocking the thrills of the MISC Hull C (Discreet).
Their $35 million
stretch goal is a small, armored data-smuggling ship called The Drake
Herald, and the new update also unveils their $36 million goal, the Tamsa
System, a risky place to play, as it includes two planets orbiting a black hole.
Another VGX trailer shows off Broken Age, Double Fine's upcoming adventure
game. Following last week's revelation that Wil Wheaton is
one of the voices in the game comes the news that Elijah Wood is to voice the
main character. The clip shows a bit of him joshing around with Tim Schafer,
some of his recording sessions,
and a bit of his character in the game. Continue here to read the full story.
Two new trailers from Titanfall premiered at VGX, one showing off
the Stryder titan and the other introducing
the Ogre titan. The names are reasonably descriptive, but in fairness, the
Stryder also seems fairly horrific, while the Ogre also strides. In related
news,
GameSpot quotes Respawn cofounder Vince Zampella not committing to beta
access for the mech shooter, vaguely saying "We're definitely thinking about
it." Continue here to read the full story.
Another trailer from the VGX show gives a look at the engine powering The
Division, the upcoming Tom Clancy game. Word is: "Technophiles rejoice! Take an
incredible tour through The Division's revolutionary new Snowdrop engine in this
world exclusive feature." We're not sure if a snowdrop is what happens when a
raindrop freezes or a snowflake melts, but the outcome is pretty
impressive. Continue here to read the full story.
So I'll tell you all the story 'bout The Witcher and the Thief in
the night, as also debuting last night at Spike's VGX awards were new trailers for
Thief and
The Witcher 3, showing off a couple of highly anticipated games.
The Thief trailer shows off some gameplay while revealing more of the back story
for Eidos Montréal's stealth reboot, and The Witcher 3 trailer likewise has both
gameplay and cinematics from CD Projekt RED's upcoming action/RPG sequel. Continue here to read the full story.
Another
trailer released at VGX 2013 (NSFW) is the full version of the teaser
released last week from
South Park: The Stick of Truth, Obsidian's upcoming action/RPG. Since the best
part of any game is the tutorial, the clip shows a segment where Cartman teaches
Butters about chemical warfare in the game. Continue here to read the full story.

Are we in this indie bubble where one-good-but-normal-game (= not Stanley
Parable) can only sell with sales and bundles, not full price? Not to
mention not being on Steam… Or are we just feeling this console transition
too where sales always slow down? So our question is simple: why didn’t you
buy the game? Let us know so we don’t do the same mistake(s) next time, if
we manage to have a next time.
