The negative response of the public to Wild Games Studio
invoking a takedown notice over
TotalBiscuit's Day One Garry's Incident review has resulted in the
publisher rescinding this claim, and the
original scathing review
is once again available for all to see.
Kotaku has the following statement from Wild Games Studio on the matter
(thanks nin): We sent TotalBiscuit a Steam key on September 26th, giving
him permission to evaluate Day One: Garry’s Incident.
Monetizing wasn’t mentioned in our communications and it was an error on our
part to not have clarified the issue.
It was for that particular fact that Wild Games Studio had asked the video’s
removal.
After the video was made unavailable, we have taken seriously the reaction from
the community concerning freedom of expression.
We strongly believe in the freedom of expression of people and medias and have
removed our copyright claim.
Wild Games Studio didn’t intend on preventing anyone from using their right to
freedom of expression.
For this reason, Wild Games Studio sincerely apologizes to TotalBiscuit and
anyone who felt that their freedom of speech was denied. Continue here to read the full story.

critical acclaim and commercial success. Over the years the Stronghold series
has grown to become one of the most enduring RTS franchises in gaming, with
sales of more than 6 million. Firefly’s most recent success has been in the MMO
genre with Stronghold Kingdoms, which currently has over 2 million players in
over 100 countries. A sequel to the original Stronghold Crusader is set for
release in early 2014, which will be self-published by Firefly Studios on

Twentieth Century Fox has filed a trademark for "Alien: Isolation" for use "with
computer game and video game software, downloadable mobile software, and
decorative magnets," according to a report on
Siliconera. They do not link to the listing, which we have not been able to
locate on the United States Patent and Trademark
Office website, but presuming it's accurate, it seems an indication that the
Alien/Aliens franchise has a gaming future past the disappointment of Aliens:
Colonial Marines. Thanks nin via

This video from cynical
British reviewer TotalBiscuit explains how his review of Day One Garry's
Incident got spiked after the game's publisher/developer Wild Games Studio
invoked a YouTube takedown/strike, in spite having sent him the game code to
review (thanks Quboid). He also goes into a little history of how publishers
have been able to exploit YouTube's automated copyright complaint system to
their advantage over the years. In a classic example of the Streisand effect,
this fiasco is only going to draw more attention to his scathing commentary on
the game. Continue here to read the full story.

Ramble about Battlefield 4, the future of AAA games, and theoretical
innovation in military shooters,
Today is a key day in determining the fate of Hudson the wonder dog, as she has
an appointment for some follow-up testing with a cardiologist. This will result
in a clearer understanding of her condition and how it is responding to
medication, which directly relates to how much time she has left. I have mixed
feelings about burdening anyone else with this, but so many of you have
expressed concern about her condition in a way that makes you seem like family that I feel compelled to keep you in the loop, and am not above requesting
you try to send out a little good juju for my baby.
