The Amazing Spider-Man - The
Game website reveals that
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is in development at Beenox Studios for release next year on
Steam as well a last- and
next-generation consoles as a tie-in with the next installment in the superhero
movie series. There are details on the sequel on
Polygon where they outline some of the project's goals, including
improvements to combat and web-slinging, and expanded Manhattan to explore, the
addition of light RPG elements, and more. The site also offers the game's
NY Comic-Con 2013 Teaser
Trailer.

According to a post on
NeoGAF, the
LinkedIn
profile of Karen Brakenridge includes a credit as costume designer for
"Costume Designer for the video game
Resident Evil 7" between November 2012 and
January 2013. We can't view the profile to confirm this, and didn't even know
video games have costume designers, but sequels are the rule these days rather
than the exception, even when a game is met with unfavorable criticism like RE6,
so this is certainly plausible. Thanks

The
Ice Emulator is a homebrew
project to allow gamers to be able to play emulated console games through Steam
to take advantage of Steam's Big Picture mode. The game's
GitHub repository has files,
details, legal details, and more, including instructions on what emulators are
required and how ROM support works. Currently this supports NES, SNES, N64.
GameCube, PS1, PS2, Genesis, Gameboy, and GBA, and they are working on support
for Wii, Dreamcast, and DS. Thanks

There's
an interview on Polygon talking with DICE's Lars Gustavsson, who expresses
the opinion that Linux only needs one "killer" game or app to "motivate"
adoption of the operating system, something they are counting on someone else to
do, as there are no indications they plan on dropping Windows or console support
from the Battlefield series. In fact, most of the article focuses on efforts at
making Battlefield 4 more accessible as he explains "everyday we need to stop
ourselves from going too hardcore, we really have to hold ourselves back." He
still expresses optimism for the future of Linux in this quote that reads like
he considers DICE and indie, which is probably not the intent: "So, to me, I
think that the possibilities are many and I think indies can build for Linux
even though we don't have enormous audience."
Here's Valve's accounting of last week's bestselling titles on
Steam:
- Civilization V Gold Edition
- Assassin's Creed III
- BioShock Infinite
- The Wolf Among Us
- DMC - Devil May Cry
- Civilization V: Brave New World
- XCOM: Enemy Within
- Terraria
- Total War: ROME II
- Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
Got to play a little GTA line with a couple of you yesterday, which was fun. I
have to remember now to start crew + friends games to allow the proper ability
to join. I'd also need to pare down my friends list to accept more than a couple
of friend requests, so I think I'll just hold off on those now, as that also
gives me a slight sense of retained privacy too, so I hope you'll understand.
Oh, yeah, I also fixed the crew logo a bit, so it looks a little closer to how
it should (man are the tools for that crude!).
