An
interview with Cliff Martinez on Lost in the Multiplex talks this former Red
Hot Chili Peppers drummer and soundtrack composer. There is a question about his
current work with a benign answer, but according to
Polygon (via
Reddit), this has been edited to remove his indication that he's working on
an unannounced next installment in the Far Cry series. They report that before
it was changed, his answer included this: "I'm working on a video game called
Far Cry 4." This is unconfirmed, but if you want to be optimistic, deleting the
reference without correction or comment suggests it was removed for secrecy
rather than accuracy. Thanks nin.

utterly!
PC Gamer has extracted some quotes from Chris Taylor on the
CnC-Inside.de podcast where he answers questions about the RTS properties
originated by Gas Powered Games now that the studio is owned by Wargaming. He
explains that the Supreme Commander series is the property of Square Enix before
throwing out strong hints that they may be pursuing a new installment in the
Total Annihilation series. Here's word:
“In so far as other RTS properties that I am capable of working on – and I
think you know what I’m talking about, I don’t even need to be coy – I think
that nerd is alive and well.” Remember, the nerd in question is a metaphor for
Taylor’s love of deep, complex strategy systems. Add that to the phrases “RTS
properties”, “I am capable of working on” and “I think you know what I’m talking
about”, and I think we know what he’s talking about.
(A hint: he’s talking about a follow up to Total Annihilation.)
Of course, this isn’t an announcement by any means. In fact, when pressed for
confirmation later in the interview, he returned to maximum coyness. “I can’t, I
won’t, I shouldn’t. It’s just not an area I’m ready to talk about yet. But you
can use your imagination, even though you’re not on the project. You’re welcome
to use your imagination, your imagination will serve you well in this
case.”
This trailer offers
a look at Randal's Monday, an upcoming adventure they call a point-and-geek in
acknowledging it as a tribute to geek culture. Word is: "Discover an inimitable
revision of the good old Graphic Adventures, and join a zany interactive
tragicomedy from the hand of Randal Hicks, the best antihero you can come across
from here to The Tannhauser Gate. But be careful; if you meet him, don’t lose
the sight of your wallet." The game is due next year for Windows PCs and
possibly other platforms. Continue here to read the full story.
Today is the anniversary of this site moving to its own domain back in 1996,
making for 17 years of fun and games here. I try to avoid thinking whenever
possible, but this has me thinking about the future of things here and how to
improve things going forward. Of course I try to avoid doing things like that
too, so nothing may come of this, but I have been known to surprise myself. In
the meantime, here's a heartfelt thanks for all the support over all these
years.
