United Front
Games announces they are not letting Sleeping Dogs lie, as they have plans
for a follow on called Triad Wars, though all they are revealing right now is a
2014 release window (thanks nin via
Shacknews). Here's word: Hi everyone! We’ve been a bit tight-lipped
about our current projects over here at UFG, but we’re finally able to give you
a little something.
So, we’re making a new game! We can’t say a lot about it right now, but you
might have read about a trademark registration for something called Triad Wars?
Well, we’re super-excited that it’s another game based in the Sleeping Dogs
universe, it’s something we’ve wanted to do for ages, and we’re very happy to be
working with Square Enix again… but that’s all we can give you for the time
being – we’ll have more information about what the game’s going to be in 2014.
As always, we love to hear your thoughts and appreciate your shared interest in
the games we make – although to reiterate, we really can’t share any more
details until 2014 (despite your best efforts to get them, you sneaky
people!)

Codemasters announces that F1 2013 is now available for Windows PCs
on Steam,
accompanying the release of the Formula One racing simulation with
this trailer showing
a hotlap in Korea. Here's word on the game and the RaceNet network supporting
it: F1 2013 players will get more from their game with RaceNet,
Codemasters’ free online community hub. RaceNet will power regular community
challenges, which began last weekend with a Time Trial event in Korea where
players competed to set the best time on online leaderboards around the circuit
in dry conditions in a Williams car. Each entrant will earn 1000XP which can go
towards unlocking rewards, including in-game helmets.
RaceNet also enables players to set up Custom RaceNet events. Players can set
their own Time Trial scenarios, choosing circuit, weather conditions, car and
duration of the event, and challenge their RaceNet friends to compete to set
their best time on leaderboards. RaceNet also includes visual stats and game
progress updates and every F1 2013 player with a RaceNet account will receive
the 1976 Ferrari 312 T2, as starring in the film Rush. Gamers can sign up to
RaceNet today at www.racenet.com.
F1 2013 is further improved and enhanced with wide-ranging technical and
gameplay improvements. New Scenario Mode pushes gamers to complete realistic
FORMULA ONE challenges and earn awards for quick-fire racing, whilst mid-session
saves allow players to complete a full GRAND PRIX weekend at their own pace. An
expanded Young Driver Test, based on the real world event set at Abu Dhabi’s Yas
Marina, eases novices into the world of FORMULA ONE and includes a range of
challenges to enable players to master elite driving techniques. F1 2013 makes
another dramatic leap forward in graphical quality, setting the benchmark for
how good a racing game can look, and improved driver AI behaviour will further
immerse players in unique FORMULA ONE races. Continue here to read the full story.
Another new "Soma"
live-action teaser trailer from Frictional Games is online, showing more of
their upcoming project in a clip called "Mockingbird." The clip is accompanied

a bit on what's included in this bundle of the fighting game and its
DLC: Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition will include all original
game content as well as all downloadable content (DLC). Valued at more than
$120, the game will be available at a suggested retail price of $59.99 for PS4™
system, PS3™ system and Xbox 360, $49.99 for Windows PC and $39.99 for PS®Vita.
The DLC included in Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition, includes fan
favorites Lobo, Batgirl, General Zod, Martian Manhunter, Zatanna, as well as
Scorpion, a character from the Mortal Kombat world, as reimagined by Jim Lee,
Co-Publisher at DC Entertainment. In addition, more than 40 extra character
skins and 60 S.T.A.R. Labs Missions, originally offered as DLC, are now
available from the start of the game. Also packaged with the Americas version of

Addiction titled "Another Soulmate" and 11 songs from popular artists ranging
from Depeche Mode to AWOLNATION.
Danish developer Full Control announces Messenger of Purgatory, a new
three-mission campaign for Space Hulk that's free to all owners of this
Warhammer 40,000-themed turn-based strategy game. The free add-on also
includes a number of tweaks and fixes for the Windows and OS X editions of the
game. "We wanted to give the community a big 'thank you' for the wonderful
support they have shown, through the first stage of launch, and we think that
fans will really love the Messenger of Purgatory campaign," said Thomas
Hentschel Lund, CEO of Full Control. "This game update addresses many of the fan
requests and suggestions that continue to hone and refine the experience of
Space Hulk." This
forum post has all the details on the new campaign and the changes in
version 1.2.
GfK Chart Track offers their latest accounting of the top selling games in the
U.K. Their
full-priced PC chart has a new entry at number six, F1 2013, and
Total War: ROME II pushes FIFA 14 out of the top spot. The
all-prices top 40 also adds F1 2013, which enters at number three. Here's
their summary: ‘FIFA
14’ remains at No1, holding off ‘GTA V’ for a second week as the gap between the
two closes to around 31K units.
Sales of ‘FIFA 14’ are down by 68%, a slightly better drop than its predecessor
‘FIFA 13’ whose sales fell by 72% after launch. ‘GTA V’ (-34%) has to settle for
No2, but can content itself with the knowledge that after just 3 weeks on sale
it has already eclipsed GTA IV’s lifetime total to become the 12th biggest
selling game of all time. It’s even more impressive in terms of revenue, as ‘GTA
V’ now occupies the No5 spot behind 4 Call of Dutys, almost equalling the total
of ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops’.
Despite 4 new releases in the Top 10 there is still a large sales gap between
the Top 2 and the rest of the chasing pack. Codemasters/Namco Bandai have this
week’s highest new entry with the multi-format ‘F1 2013’ debuting one place
ahead of Nintendo’s ‘The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker’ which re-appears at
No4 thanks to an enhanced HD version for Wii U. The other 2 newcomers are ‘NBA
2K14’ at No7 and ‘Just Dance 2014’ at No9. Half the Top 10 this week is made up
of sequels to games that were in the Top 10 the same week last year. Two
non-sequels, ‘Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition’ (+4%) and ‘Disney Infinity’ (+22%)
are the only Top 10 titles to increase in sales this week with the kid-friendly
duo charting at No5 and No6 respectively. ‘Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell:
Blacklist’ (-23%) slips one place to No8, while ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 2014’
(-45%) falls 6 places to No10.
Sundays are getting rough here at the BlueTower. The Giants are in free-fall,
and after doing pretty well in the first couple of weeks, my standings in the
Beat the Insiders
dealie is in free-fall as well. At one point yesterday I was winning on every
one of my picks too, but apparently they only count after the game ends. I'll
have to take that into account next week.
