Brazilian site
The Sims Style has
screenshots from
The Sims 4 along with some details on the next
installment in Maxis' wee people series, and though these are written in the site's
native Portuguese, the article they scanned is in English.
This is all directly from PC PowerPlay
issue #219, apparently an advance copy, since
the
website for the Australian magazine says this issue is due on August
22nd.
Update: The previous explanation of where these are from
is incorrect (thanks Firky), they are from a recent issue of GAME magazine, and
the scans were posted in the
The Sims 3
Forums. Thanks Rigs via

NeoGaf.
SHAMBLES is a Unity-engine,
browser-based first-person shooter cooked up in under a week by Markus "Notch"
Persson as an entry in the now-complete
7DFPS
coding competition. This was the theme of the contest, to create an FPS in under
seven days, and
this page has
dozens of other entries to check out. Coincidentally, there's a
post on Destructoid discussing the discovery of other quickie games created
in the past by the Minecraft creator as part of
Java 4K Programming
Contests. Thanks
Eurogamer, where they have impressions of the zombie-themed game.
Battlefront.com announces
Operation Market Garden, an expansion for
Combat Mission Battle for
Normandy they plan on releasing later this summer. This will depict Montgomery's
failed Rhine offensive from late World War II famously depicted in the movie
A Bridge Too Far and the miniseries
A Band of Brothers (as well as
the books of the same name for you literate types). Here's word:
Combat
Mission: Market Garden depicts allied Field Marshall Bernard Montgomery's
September 1944 dash across Holland in a daring gambit to leap the Rhine river
and enter the heartland of Germany itself. Fielding U.S., British and Polish
forces, Operation Market Garden was meant to be the lightning stroke which would
end the war that year. It included the largest airborne operation seen to that
day or since. Market Garden ended in tragedy, though, when the allies failed to
capture their final objective, the Rhine river bridge at Arnhem. It was, in the
famous words of Lt. General Fredrick "Boy" Browning, a bridge too far.
CM: Market Garden allows the player to recreate Monty's desperate struggles to
reach and cross the Rhine in Holland. It is an expansion module to Combat
Mission: Battle for Normandy and requires the base game in order to play,
upgraded to 2.0! No other modules are required.

So I was sitting here yesterday contemplating the pain in my toe, when it
occurred to me that I have a jar of extra strength Tiger Balm handy, and that an
application of that might help provide a little relief from my discomfort. Not
long after that, for the first time I started seeing ads here for Tiger Balm.
How weird is that? Maybe I need to look into getting a version of Adblock for my
brain?
