Yesterday I paid the price for wearing the flimsy surfer shoes I recently
mentioned re-discovering after a long search. I was walking the pooches
when I managed to bang my foot against a protruding bit of sidewalk,
giving myself a nasty pain on the ball of the foot right where the big toe is
attached. This turns out to be a spot that gets a lot of wear-and-tear that one
doesn't think about until it hurts, but it bears a lot of weight when I walk,
and is the *exact* spot that depresses the clutch when I drive. At least it's my
left foot, so my ass-kicking foot is still in order, and I'm ready if any NFL
teams come calling for a placekicker, but I'm basically a gimpy mess at the
moment.
