ManiaPlanet announces the availability of
ShootMania Elite "Guest
Access" along with changes to the Elite mode and station in Nadeo's first-person
shooter (thanks Frans). Here's word on how the game now allows players to invite
their friends for a sample:
In the Elite station, you’ll find a new
“Invite Player” button, where you can invite anyone to come play ShootMania
Elite. Creating a Guest Key is free, which you can then send to your friend to
give them limited access to the game. Your guest is limited to three matches per
day. The key will be also sent to you by email when you create it, so be sure to
have the correct email address registered on your profile!
If you want to be able to play with them as much as you want, send them a
super-invitation instead. It’ll cost you 5,000 Planets that are once given back
to you when they buy the game.
Though Bethesda
recently stated
that the possibility of id creating a
RAGE sequel is "to be determined,"
Joystiq has word from id Software's Tim Willits that he feels they will go
back to their post-apocalyptic shooter at some point. "I'm proud of what we did,
I'm proud of the universe that we built. The franchise is not dead," Willits
told them. "We're not doing anything immediately with it, but when I designed
the universe, I designed it in such a way that it would be easy to step back
into. I'm still proud that we did something that was different – it wasn't like
the games that we've done in the past."
The
Harebrained Schemes website has an update on their plans now that
Shadowrun Returns has been released. There's word on the release of the
first patch, what they have planned for future patches like bug fixes and
balance tweaks, the status of the Linux and mobile editions, the launch of the
Shadowrun Returns Wiki,
plans for mod and GM workshops, the status of backer rewards, and details on an
ambitions modification that's already in the works to add a 100+ hour
community-created campaign. Thanks Opifer.
A campaign to fund a fighting game called
Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm
is now underway on
Indiegogo, where the project is well on its way to its $68K goal. The game
is being developed by a few of the folks who worked on the King of Fighters
series. They have
a
trailer that's mentioned in the following description: "Yatagarasuis an
original 2D fighting game for PC (Windows) which features 8 playable characters,
high quality old school graphics, and gameplay that is easily accessible to
anyone. The introductory video for our campaign is the trailer for the latest
version of Yatagarasu (v4.3) and shows how the game currently looks and sounds."
Thanks ElGamerCosplayer, creator of a
live action clip based
on this project.

Tonight kicks off the NFL preseason with the annual Hall of Fame game, and I'm
so ready for football to return I'm tempted to actually watch, even though it
will be a rookie showcase. That's what happens when your favorite baseball team
is 15.5 games out of first in the dog days of August.
