German developer Crytek is warning their users of security breaches on four of
their websites that are now offline, saying users will be asked to change their
passwords when the sites return (thanks
Ant). Here's word:
We recently
became aware of suspicious activity relating to some of Crytek's websites, and
acted quickly to take those websites offline for security reasons.
The sites listed below are currently offline:
- Crytek.com
- Mycryengine.com
- Crydev.net
- MyCrysis.com
The following Crytek sites remain online and are not affected by these
issues:
- GFACE.com
- Crysis.com
- Warface.com
If you have an account at crydev.net or mycrysis.com, you will be asked to
change your password next time you log in. If you use your current password
anywhere else online, we would also suggest that you reset it at those sites.
We are working on getting all websites fully operational again as soon as
possible. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience.
The
DayZ development blog offers
a new video from the
upcoming standalone version of
DayZ. The clip features gameplay footage
showing a recent version of Bohemia Interactive's zombie game in action, and features narration from designer
Dean Hall. Dean explains the their latest milestone testing was to determine
whether they were ready to open access to the alpha version of the game to the
public, saying they concluded the answer was no. He explains what he feels they
need to accomplish before this can happen, saying the vast numbers of items and
zombies on a map create complications in their networking code, as this requires
more data be passed over the network than their Arma game. He offers more
details on things they still want to accomplish in coding the game. There's a
write-up that transcribes much of this on
IncGamers in case the too-loud game sounds make things hard to understand.
There's some bonus footage at the end where some of the other developers on the
project describe what they are doing.

This video offers a
lengthy look at gameplay from
Saints Row IV, Volition's upcoming
open-world action sequel, and includes commentary on what we're seeing from
Volition's Dave Bianchi. It also offers a lengthy look at a screen that says
"Rev 3 Games Live! Will begin shortly," showing that what the pros refer to as
"editing" was not part of the program, so you can use
this link if
you don't want to sit through the first three and a half minutes of nothing.
There may be good reason to skip the clip entirely if you are intending to get
the game, as the clip runs almost 90 minutes, and thus will obviously include
more than a couple of spoilers. You are now equipped with the tools to make an
informed decision on the matter. Thanks nin.

Congrats to all the new inductees into the NFL Hall-of-Fame. This year's crop
includes one very special to a lot of Giants fans, myself included, as Bill
Parcells is getting his tacky gold jacket this year. The Big Tuna should have
been in on the first ballot, but was inexplicably overlooked last year in one of
the biggest snubs in HoF history, but I can put bitterness aside and just be
happy that today he is getting his well-earned due.
