A
new Kickstarter seeks $650,000 in funding to develop MotorGun, which
is the new title for the game announced with the title Autoduel. This is still
called the "return of the auto duel" by developer Pixelbionic, who have some
experience in the topic, as the game's "dream team" of developers has a steering
committee that boasts the creative forces behind two of the most influential
games in this small genre, Twisted Metal designer David Jaffe and
Interstate '76 designer Zack Norman. They promise a PC and OS X game with no
publishers and no compromises. Here's word: MotorGun is a PC team based
multiplayer game that pays homage to epic car combat games of the past such as
Interstate '76 and Twisted Metal – while offering gamers the chance to see what
can be accomplished when a talented team of industry veterans and luminaries are
unleashed on this beloved genre. Assemble your team and drive into battle. Full
of high-octane thrills and spills of team-based car combat with RPG-influenced
persistence and progression gameplay, MotorGun promises to take the genre to the
next level with plans for a wide variety of vehicles, multiplayer modes,
customization options, and an in-depth tech tree – all set in a gritty,
post-apocalyptic world where gasoline, guns, and your skill behind the wheel
rule the day.
Grinding Gear Games announces Path of
Exile is the latest game to jump on the
Twitch bandwagon, as the action/RPG now has integrated support for the
streaming video service: Auckland, New Zealand - July 16, 2013 - Grinding
Gear Games today announced that Twitch, the world's leading video platform and
community for gamers, has been integrated into their online action RPG, Path of
Exile. Path of Exile now allows players to stream gameplay from inside the game
client, including full support for streaming webcam footage and integrated
Twitch channel chat. Twitch integration also enables players to know who on the
leaderboards is racing at any given time for real-time spectating.
Leveraging Twitch's new software developer kit, Path of Exile is able to add
functionality beyond the live broadcasting of gameplay. When Path of Exile and
Twitch accounts are linked, users viewing the Path of Exile website will be able
to see little Twitch icons next to player names wherever they appear on the site
while streaming and can click on the logo to visit the user's stream. In
addition, while a Path of Exile race event is in progress, the leading streamer
for that event is shown on the race page. Since all streamers are marked on the
leaderboard, players can switch between them and watch them play directly on the
race page.
The awesomely named Ocean Quigley took
to Twitter
to announce his departure from Maxis, where he served as creative director and
art director for the new SimCity. He announces he's forming a new
development studio called Jellygrade with two more Maxis veterans, Andrew
Willmott (previously engineering lead on SimCity, Spore, and The Sims) and Dan
Moskowitz (previously lead gameplay engineer at Maxis/EA). He
says he
still has a lot of affection for Maxis, which
was a good
studio to work for, but that " after
SimCity 3k, SimCity 4, the Sims, the Sims2, Spore & the new SimCity, it was time
for something new." He
says
they hope to make PC games, but their first project is a tablet game
he
describes like so: "We're making a simulation about the dawn of life on
earth; about lava, water, rock and the emergence of the first primordial
creatures." Thanks nin via

Ubisoft offers a new
trailer from Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, the upcoming
continuation of their stealth/action series. The clip offers a cinematic look at
the game's naval combat as well as fighting on dry land, though none of it looks
like it has anything to do with assassinations. Speaking of making a killing,
Ubisoft also announces they are now accepting preorders in North America for
a Limited Edition of the game for all its target platforms. This will run a cool
$129.99, and here's the plunder you'll receive if you choose to part with that
much from your treasure chest: Beware, all who purchase, for awesomeness
awaits. The set comes with a treasure trove of goodies, starting with (of
course) a copy of the game, along with a SteelBook game case, the game’s full
soundtrack, an exclusive 80-page art book, an embroidered flag with Edward’s
crest and an absolutely striking 18-inch Captain Edward Kenway
statue. Continue here to read the full story.
ArenaNet announces a July 23rd release date for
Cutthroat Politics, a new content update for
Guild Wars 2 which will imbue the
MMORPG with the kind of political intrigue many of us play games to escape.
Here's word: Experience the sharp edge of politics in ArenaNet’s latest
content update for Guild Wars 2, Cutthroat Politics, going live 23rd July. This
update comes with an exciting twist: players, through their votes, will bring
about permanent changes to the world of Tyria.
In Cutthroat Politics, a vacant seat on the Captain’s Council of Lion’s Arch is
up for grabs and two powerful figures have emerged as the leading candidates.
Players will have the opportunity to support either the war hero Ellen Kiel or
the prominent merchant Evon Gnashblade to fill the seat and strike a lucrative
trade agreement with the merchants of the Zephyr Sanctum.

The
Bethesda Blog has information they
teased yesterday about new DLC for Dishonored, revealing plans for
The Brigmore Witches, an upcoming pack that will conclude the saga of Daud,
and determine if this leads to darkness or redemption. The DLC will be released
on August 13th for all editions of the game except the European PS3 version,
which will follow the next day, and word is this will make use of saved games
from The Knife of Dunwall DLC. They offer some screenshots and promised more
details soon, and in the meantime this outline shows what to expect: In
The Brigmore Witches, continue your journey as the legendary assassin, Daud, and
bring his twisted narrative that began with The Knife of Dunwall to a close.
After discovering the identity and intentions of Delilah, the leader of the
Brigmore Witch coven, you set out to disrupt her from completing a powerful
ritual that will spell your doom. Having already been betrayed by your
lieutenant, Billie Lurk, you must rely on feuding gang factions—the Dead Eels
and the Hatters—to negotiate your way through previously unseen districts of
Dunwall en route to Delilah’s stronghold. Regardless of the way you reach your
destination, one thing is for certain – you will finally answer for your
treacherous actions and fall before the mercy, or punishment, of the Royal
Bodyguard and Assassin, Corvo Attano. Additionally, your power, weapon and item
upgrades, Chaos level, and player actions from The Knife of Dunwall will carry
over via a compatible save file option.
A new
Kickstarter campaign is attempting to raise a half-million dollars to
develop a police game called Precinct, proposed by Jim Walls, the former
police officer who helped develop the Police Quest series for Sierra
On-Line back in the day (thanks nin). This is to use modern 3D graphics and play
from a first-person perspective, in a project they say is "an effort to
successfully combine original Sierra-style adventure with modern video game
technology." Here's word on the game: Precinct takes players on a police
adventure as officer Maxwell Jones in the corrupt town of Fraser Canyon, CA.
Starting out as a rookie and then moving up the ranks, players face adrenaline
charged scenarios and conduct real police procedures while solving crimes and
arresting perpetrators.
Written by Jim Walls and some of today's brightest Hollywood talent, Precinct
features a gripping crime story based on true accounts of real police cases. As
players clean up the crime ridden streets, the plot thickens with corrupt cops,
greedy public officials, and a deadly struggle for control of Fraser Canyon's
criminal underground.

Spicy Horse follows up news of the
cancellation of their OZombie
Kickstarter with a
new
Kickstarter for "Alice: Otherlands by American McGee," an effort to secure
the film rights to American McGee's Alice and create a series of animated shorts
with the ultimate goal of producing a feature film based on the property. Here's
word on their plans for the $200K they seek: "If this campaign is successful you
will receive, at a minimum, an animated adventure into Otherlands. Beyond that,
the success of this campaign will bring us one step closer to seeing Alice on
the big screen." They also address the obvious concerns about
a film project from
a game developer in their "Risks and challenges" caption: Because
Spicy Horse is a game studio and not an animation or film production house, the
biggest risk in acquiring these rights and working with them will come in how we
choose and collaborate with external partners. That being said, we do have
experience working with external 3D animation houses (see animations for Alice:
Madness Returns marketing). For feature film (either live action or animation)
we're already being approached by well-known producers, writers and directors -
and would strive to work only with the best possible partners in order to reduce
risk and achieve the highest quality.
A new Saints Row Gov - Hail to the Chief
website offers a comical "official" government website for the offbeat
office of the president in Saints Row IV, Volition's upcoming open-world
action sequel (thanks
GamesBeat). Also, the
Saints Row website outlines the complete voice cast for the game, including
such luminaries as Keith David, Terry Crews, Michael Dorn, and Neil Patrick
Harris.

we're not asking for your email address in order to sell it or spam you, we have
never added a formalized privacy policy here, so I dug up a template and
drew one up. Feel free to
