Ride to Hell: Retribution tells the story of a lone rider, Jake Conway, a man
with either a gun in his hand or a girl on his lap (and on more than one
occasion, both!). He's on a merciless path of revenge against a brutal biker
gang called "The Devil's Hand," armed to the teeth with an arsenal of deadly
weapons to enact his vengeance on foot and on bike. The only law Jake answers to
is his own. Hit hard, ride fast and leave 'em in the dust. Ride to Hell:

Though he repeats that he cannot really comment on the matter, Beamdog and
Overhaul Games president Trent Oster informs
GameInformer that Atari is the previously unnamed publishing partner that is
preventing Baldur's
Gate: Enhanced Edition from being sold. That said, the situation
otherwise remains as vague and confusing as before. "At the request of Atari
legal we removed the game from sale on Beamdog and the App stores," Oster told
them. "Atari is still selling the game through their channels. We're trying to
remedy the situation and I'm hopeful we can come to an arrangement."

2K Games announces the release of Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep,
the final DLC pack for Borderlands 2, Gearbox Software's role-playing
shooter sequel. Here's the
launch trailer, a new
Inside the Box feature on the DLC's development, and here's word:
Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep features the popular Tiny Tina as she
takes on the role of Bunker Master in a game of “Bunkers and Badasses.” Players
join the vault hunters on an epic quest of revenge and redemption through
dynamic and fantastical settings filled with castles, dungeons and magic
forests. Borderlands fans will also fight off more new unique enemy types in
Dragon Keep than in all three of the previous add-on campaigns combined,
including sorcerers, wizards, orcs, dragons and more.
“The Borderlands franchise has set a high bar for the quality and value of
add-on content,” said Christoph Hartmann, President of 2K. “Today, that bar is
raised even higher with the release of Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep, the
most substantial add-on campaign in the franchise’s history.”
“As Bunker Master, Tiny Tina can change the game scenario however she wishes,
making Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep the most dynamic add-on campaign
Gearbox Software has ever produced,” said Randy Pitchford, President of Gearbox
Software. “The Borderlands 2 development team here at our studio really pulled
out all the stops to create what we think is the best value in DLC ever
offered.”
Though Australia recently added
an adult-oriented R18+ rating to their game rating system,
Player Attack reports that Saints Row IV has nevertheless been
refused classification in the terrirory, being deemed too much for delicate
Aussie sensibilities. This means, pending a potential appeal, while it will
be legal to own, it will not be permitted to publicly sell or display the next
installment in Volition's open-world action series. The site cites how the game
violates the R18+ specification, as games are not to "depict, express or
otherwise deal with matters of sex, drug misuse or addiction, crime, cruelty,
violence or revolting or abhorrent phenomena in such a way that they offend
against the standards of morality, decency and propriety generally accepted by
reasonable adults to the extent that they should not be classified." Here are
the specifics of how Saints Row IV runs afoul of this: In the Board’s
opinion, Saints Row IV, includes interactive, visual depictions of implied
sexual violence which are not justified by context. In addition, the game
includes elements of illicit or proscribed drug use related to incentives or
rewards. Such depictions are prohibited by the computer games
guidelines.

Strategy Informer has comments from Obsidian Entertainment Creative Director
Chris Avellone, who states the recent success of fundraisers for old-school-style RPGs like Wasteland 2, Torment: Tides of Numenera, and
Obsidian's Project Eternity have opened they eyes of publishers to the
commercial potential of this genre they long ago decided do not hold the desired
potential for profits. He seems surprised that this would attract this kind of
attention, but it seems no more surprising that the big guys would find these
upstart kickstarts of interest after we saw a couple of major publishers issue
"indie bundles" once those became a thing. Here's word: We have actually
had companies reach out to us and go 'you know what, for that price point, which
is a much smaller risk than a lot of our AAA titles where there's a lot more at
stake, that's much less risk for us and we wouldn't mind exploring the idea of
doing old-school RPGs that are set up like this'. That totally floors me, I did
not realise there would be that sort of sea change from publishers, but
apparently there are a number of publishers that realise that doing an
Eternity-style game is a good fit for them, and I am thankful for that.
The
GeForce website now offers new version 320.49 beta GeForce drivers, offering
the latest performance and gaming optimizations as well as support for their
new GeForce GTX 760 cards (see today's Hardware Reviews). Word is: "The new
GeForce 320.49 beta driver is now available to download. Including the latest
game and performance optimizations, the new 320.49 beta drivers are recommended
for players of GRID 2 and other recent releases. For users of 320.18 WHQL,
today’s new driver fixes the majority of the reported issues."
The
NoLimits Website offers a
Tango Tech Demo trailer
from NoLimits 2, an upcoming roller coaster simulation sequel. The first
35 seconds include a very grating transition effect and sound between scenes,
but thankfully they dispense with this, though the entire clip indulges the
creativity of its editor more than the game (in spite of the statement that
"Hardly any post processing was used to make this video"). The accompanying
update says the project is about 95% done, and that "the ToDo list gets smaller
each day." Thanks Chron.
The NDA for NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 reviews expired at 9:00 am EDT today.
The last couple of years our resolve has shaken that we can survive summers here
in the BlueTower with no air conditioning. There's been an AC unit in my office
all along, as the converted attic has always been crazy hot, but the rest of our
shady brick house with its high ceilings has been generally comfortable except
on a couple of the very hottest days of the year. The trouble is lately there
have been far more of those. It's generally around seven or eight degrees cooler
inside than out, but yesterday with the internet saying it was 90°F outside it
was 88°F in the house: I went out back with my instant-read cooking thermometer
and got a reading of 95°F, which made more sense. Anyway, with this coming on
the third day of summer, it was obviously time to surrender, and I got on Amazon
to order an AC. There was a note about the one I ordered warning that it might
take extra time to ship, so it didn't seem worth a rush order, but in typical
fashion, Amazon under-promises and over-delivers, as I later got an email
saying it will be delivered today instead of tomorrow, so it will actually
arrive before the brace to keep it in the window.
