Ubisoft announces the release of TrackMania² Stadium, and latest
installment in Nadeo's Windows PC racing series is for sale from
ManiaPlanet and
Steam, offering a return
to the stadium tracks familiar to the series after a trip to the desert in
TrackMania² Canyon.
ManiaPlanet has word on the release and
launch trailer (thanks
Frans). Update: Though not announced, the game is clearly available from
other e-tailers, as it just popped up on
GameStop PC
Downloads. Here are
some new
screenshots, and here's word: Stadium benefits from a new
single-player campaign, new content creation tools, as well as an overhauled
graphics and lighting engine. This engine provides high-quality, scalable
visuals, and the new content creation tools offer greater diversity for the
TrackMania community.
TrackMania² Stadium is the next evolution of the series and a fitting successor
to the popular TrackMania Nations Forever. TrackMania Nations Forever gathered
over 1 million players in its first few weeks and has grown ever since, reaching
over 12 million players by 2013.
"I’m happy to confirm to the TrackMania players, that the Stadium environment is
coming to ManiaPlanet as TrackMania² Stadium. This is a new start for our most
popular and beloved racing environment. As a matter of fact, having it as a part
of ManiaPlanet with TM² Canyon and the upcoming TM² Valley, will enable us at
Nadeo and the community to make TM² Stadium come alive thanks to new features,
content and evolutions along the way." said Nadeo Publishing Managing Director
at Ubisoft, Anne Blondel-Jouin.

Dealzon which includes free shipping for a final cost of $0.00. We're not
sure if the game can be purchased in other territories, but please be aware the
rebate form says it is only valid in the United States.
Rock, Paper, Shotgun relates what they call "The Sorry Saga Of Skulls Of The
Shogun & Windows 8," which follows up on
recent news that
a new Skulls of the Shogun: Bone-A-Fide Edition is coming to offer a
version of 17-bit Studios' turn-based strategy game for systems other than
Windows 8. As one can imagine, the decision to make the game a Windows 8
exclusive was not organic, as Microsoft paid to exclude other Windows systems
from the game to promote their new OS, and the RPS story surprisingly alleges
the deep-pocketed publisher failed to live up to its financial commitments on a
timely basis which forced the game's developers to spend personal capital and
take out a loan to continue development. They hear from developer
Borut Pfeifer, who draws a distinction between Microsoft as a whole and game publisher Microsoft
Studios, which he savages: "They came across as though
they were institutionally incompetent. I think they’re not really set up to be a
decent publisher. I do feel slightly bad saying that, because there were people
there who worked hard on our behalf, but at the same time there are systemic
problems with the way that division is setup and run." He also offers insights
into why Windows 8 for desktops has been a disaster and the Surface is treading
water, which has made their admitted "deal with the devil" turn out like, well,
it sounds. After the history lesson they look ahead to the game's release
on Steam,
talking about all the additions it will contain compared with the original
Windows 8 version. The article says the Steam release is this week, but Steam
currently says July. Thanks Verno.
The Baldur's Gate Website has news from
Beamdog and Overhaul Games president Trent Oster that Baldur's Gate: Enhanced
Edition and its upcoming follow-up are caught up in some unexplained legal
limbo (thanks N). Word is that while those who already own the RPG sequel are
still able to download and play it, "complex legal matters" they are unable to
discuss (though they do mention "issues with our publishing partner") prevent
its further sale, the release of future patches, or the release of the Android
edition or Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition II. There's FAQ with more
details accompanying this letter: Dear Friends of Baldur's Gate,
We recently removed Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition from sale on Beamdog and the
Apple App Store. We've taken this step at our publishing partner's request as we
attempt to resolve a number of contractual issues.
Unfortunately, until this matter is resolved, we are unable to release the
latest Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition patch or Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition
for Android.
This also prevents the launch of Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition. I sincerely
apologize to the series' fans and promise we are working diligently to remedy
the situation.
Regards, Trent Oster President, Beamdog & Overhaul Games
Blend Games has word that the Windows PC edition of Assassin's Creed IV:
Black Flag will arrive "a few weeks" after the console editions of the
stealth/action sequel, which are expected in late October. This is revealed in
an ElderGeek video
interview where AC4 director Ashraf Ismail mentions the staggered release:
"We're working hard on the PC version," Ismail said. "It's one of the main
platforms we work on in the office. For our PC fans, don't worry. The game on PC
looks phenomenal." We're seeing this characterized as a delay, but we had fair
warning, as the
announcement of the October release date only mentions this applying to the
Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii U editions (not to mention every previous PC port in the series has come after its corresponding console release).
Wizards of the Coast announces two Dungeons & Dragons releases this week, saying
Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara came out on Tuesday and that
today is the launch day for the
Dungeons & Dragons Neverwinter free-to-play MMOG. Here's word, which
includes mention of the BG2 Enhanced Edition which is now caught in a legal
tussle: Wizards of the Coast is celebrating two new digital releases this
week: Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara, which released on June 18th,
and today’s launch of the critically-acclaimed Neverwinter MMORPG. These
releases are just two of several exciting Dungeons & Dragons digital games
scheduled for release in 2013.
Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara from Capcom features up
to four players battling against mythical beasts from the D&D universe with a
mix of melee, range and magic attacks. The game is available as a digital
download on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC.
Neverwinter is an action RPG set in an immersive massively
multiplayer world that lets players explore and defend one of the most beloved
cities in the Forgotten Realms. The MMORPG is free-to-play and can be downloaded
at http://nw.perfectworld.com/.
The release of Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara and Neverwinter join
many other partnerships and digital releases in the works, establishing D&D as a
major force in the digital space. Other upcoming releases include Arena of
War, a mobile game for Android, iPhone and iPad devices from DeNA
available later this year; Shadowfell Conspiracy, the second
expansion pack to the Dungeons & Dragons Online MMORPG releasing on August 19;
the upcoming release of Baldur’s Gate on Android followed by
Baldur’s Gate II Enhanced Edition; and a yet-to-be-announced game
from Playdek.

A new Video Recap from

upcoming motorsports game. They also send out the call for beta testers
on this page who
will receive "premier access to R3E updates, including multiplayer," before they
roll out on the version of the game available for free
on Steam.
"R3E is an 'ever-growing' concept being developed to support demands from the
market," says QA Lead, Sonat Öztürk. "We are still in a Beta stage of
development and even though we have a solid platform today, some of the most
interesting features, game modes and content are yet to be released. We need
more Beta testers to help with development."
Indie developer Rival Games announces
The Detail, an episodic 2D point-and-click adventure that draws inspiration
from The Wire, The Watchmen, and Telltale Games' The Walking Dead series. The
game is due in 2014 for Windows, OS X, and Linux, but in the meantime they offer
a demo in the form of a version 1.1 presentation alpha available on
this page and a look at the game in
this teaser trailer.

I'm one of those who has been using Google Reader for a long time now, but
apparently there aren't enough of us, as the big G is deep-sixing the RSS reader
at the end of this month. I haven't been successful in finding a replacement, so
I thought I'd ask here if anyone had any recommendations for a good RSS reader.
I realize this is very 2000s of me, but some of us are stuck in their ways.
Thanks for any help with this.
