The
Kickstarter page for
Shadowrun Returns has word from Harebrained
Schemes about their promise to provide a DRM-free version of the Shadowrun
revival, and how this will and will not conflict with their plans to offer a
version on
Steam in addition to a standalone release. They explain that their
license agreement with Microsoft actually requires the game and its DLC to
include DRM, and while they managed to negotiate an exception to provide
DRM-free editions of the game and the Berlin Campaign reward DLC for their
backers, this will not apply to any other releases, so they will not be able to
sell the game on GOG.com or in any other DRM-free way, and all future DLC after
Berlin Campaign will be only release though
Steam. So to sum this up:
Kickstarter backers of Shadowrun Returns are entitled to a DRM-free standalone
version of the game with editor and mod support (and future patches) as well as
a DRM-free copy of the reward DLC, but if they want to purchase future DLC after
that, they must install the
Steam version (which is also included in their
backer rewards). Thanks nin.
GameCoder studios
announces
Attractio, a first-person shooter/puzzle game that looks more
than a little inspired by Valve's
Portal series.
This teaser trailer
offers a look at the game, which is due this summer for Windows. Linux, and OS
X. There is also a playable demo, which is available
on this page in exchange
for filling out survey. Here's word on the game:
Attractio is a
FPS/Puzzle videogame where the players solve deathly and tricky puzzles
manipulating the gravity at will. This game offers puzzles that challenge your
nerves and your survival ability, customized advanced and a lot of stunning
action.
The player will be able to play three parallel character story lines where,
helped with technology like Attractio Gravity Boots and the Attractio Gravity
Gun they may be able to achieve their most valuable and mysterious
interests.
The website that had been home to the
upcoming
XCOM shooter is now returning a 404 "not found" error. Likewise,
the
Official 2K
Games YouTube Channel no longer offers the videos they had previously posted
for the game. There's no official word on what's going on, though superannuation
recently reported that 2K might be
in the process of rebranding the game. Thanks

Digital Trends.
I'm sad that Spartacus on Starz has ended... the show seemed so cheesy and goofy
at first, but really found itself after the first season and became a real
favorite. I wonder if there's any talk of continuing this as a new series
centered on Julius Caesar? I would watch.
