Jagex announces the release of free DLC for Ace of Spades, their recently
launched voxel-based shooter/construction game: Jagex, Europe’s largest
independent games studio, today announced the launch of their first free update
for the innovative shooter, Ace of Spades. The game, which launched on 12/12/12,
has stormed the Steam charts and has cemented itself in the Top 10 Sellers list.
The first DLC update for the game launches today and includes four new maps, a
new game mode and a new weapon. This free pack brings the map count up to ten,
adding new sandbox environments for players to create and destroy. The DLC also
add the classic Capture the Flag multiplayer mode, which will be available

Snow Cannon!
The
Jagged Alliance Online Website announces plans to expand the
browser-based online installment in this series of tactical role-playing games.

Immanitas Entertainment announces the digital release of Uprising 44: The
Silent Shadows, their World War II action game, saying a boxed edition of
the third-person shooter/RTS hybrid will follow in the first quarter of next
year. The game is available through
Desura,
GamerZ Rebellion, and
McGame,
and here's word on what to expect: Uprising 44 brings gamers closer to the
stories of struggles of civilians and insurgent forces against the Nazi
aggressor. It is a universal tale of heroism, patriotism and heroic struggle of
inhabitants of a city occupied by Nazi troops. The whole story is set in 1944
during an outbreak of one of the largest guerrilla operations in World War II -
the Warsaw Uprising.
TPS and RTS gameplay modes are smoothly switched depending on the development of
the game action. In TPP mode the player is the commander of a four-person party
– The Silent Shadows. With the tactical command system, he can command both the
entire squad, as well as its individual members. The advanced AI of the soldiers
allows for a tactical game, where an order may be given to an individual
soldier, depending on the situation, or a game with activated “Auto-behavior”
mode, where the player controls only his own hero and members of the squad act
according to their own assessment of the situation.
Immanitas Entertainment also (see story above) announces the release of Deep
Eclipse, a new arcade space shooter. The game is available on
GamersGate,
Get Games, and
McGame,
here's a bit on what it offers: Deep Eclipse is the ultimate space
thriller in the best tradition of the genre. The mission is clear: You're the
pilot of a space fighter, accidentally catapulted into a parallel universe
populated by hostile alien creatures; and they're not happy to see you! To get
out of this hell, do your best, to destroy hordes of enemies.
Deep Eclipse features all the best of the traditional arcade shooter, but is
definitely requesting the player’s ability of strategic planning by upgrading
his spaceship with useful extra-weapons and technologies. Destroy to survive!
Survive to return home!

Not being one for cockamamie theories, I have not spent a lot of time planning
about today being the end of the world. On the other hand, maybe I should have
seen it as a sign of the apocalypse that Verizon worked out my FiOS issues
yesterday. Anyway, amid heavy rain and high winds, the power is out here in the
BlueTower, and what's worse, is I can't get online with FiOS even with my UPS,
so apparently power is out a local substation. In more bad luck, my laptop was
without a charge, but I've managed to fire it up using an inverter and a car
jumper box with a battery in it for this makeshift update (I won't have access
to the mail on my other machine until the power returns, so there may be some
catching up to do after this). The one lucky turn is that I am managing to
connect to an LTE tower right now, which you can't usually do around here.
Perhaps another sign of the end of days. Anyway, I'm not sure how updating will
go the rest of today if the power stays down, so we'll just have to play it by
ear.
