The
Bethesda Blog announces that development is complete on Dishonored, and Arkane's stealth/assassination game will be available for Windows, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 on October 9th in North America and October 12th in Europe. They celebrate the news with a giveaway of "an extremely limited" Overseer mask and a signed copy of the game. Here's a description from
the Dishonored website:
You are the once-trusted bodyguard of the Empress. Framed for her murder and driven by revenge, you must become an infamous assassin, known only by the disturbing mask that has become your calling card.
As you navigate a world torn apart by plague and oppressed by a government armed with strange new technologies, the truth behind your betrayal is as murky as the waters surrounding the city.
The choices you make will determine the fate of the world, but no matter what happens your old life is gone forever.
A
post on the Call of Duty Community Website outlines details on PC online security, matchmaking and servers in
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Treyarch's upcoming military shooter sequel. Here's a handy summary of key points courtesy of
One Of Swords, where there's also a discussion of some of the negative backlash this has inspired:
- All servers are dedicated servers, used for public matchmaking and league play.
- There will be servers located around the globe.
- You can’t rent a dedicated server; they’re just free for your use.
- Anti-cheat is handled via VAC + Treyarch’s own proprietary tech working in tandem.
- Treyarch has a “full-time dedicated anti-cheat team” to police the servers.
- Server files will not be made available to the public. Treyarch runs them.
- Mods will not be supported.
This Kickstarter seeks backers for
Blackspace, an upcoming action strategy game that is a bit of an homage to the classic Asteroids arcade game, among other things. They offer a spiffy trailer that concludes with the game's motto: "Plan. Dig. Defend. Survive." Here's more:

This trailer from Runic Games offers a wild look at three years of development of
Torchlight II in a compelling abstract form based on activity in their source control system. Word is: "Every piece of art, sound, or code that helped shape the game is represented somewhere in the frenzy. The music is a recently unearthed archaeological selection from the long-distant schoolboy days of a certain Runic Games employee who shall remain nameless to spare he and his cohorts the embarrassment. We welcome your speculation and evidence in the comments." Thanks

This forum post has details on the new version, explaining this will make the new
Supernatural expansion a trifle less spooky: "We’ve also been reading your feedback and know some of you have had some issues with undesired zombie spawns if you happened to save your game during a full moon. Today we have released a Game Update that addresses this issue. Once you have this Game Update, you'll no longer need to worry about infecting save games with this issue. If your save game has already been infected by this, you will need to create a new save game. However, you can preserve your household or your house by exporting them using the Edit Town mode and importing them into a new save game."
Not sure, but I think we're going to end up at a Brooklyn deli at some point today for some pastrami. I hope it works out, as it's been too long, and pastrami withdrawal is not a pretty sight.
