Humble Indie Bundle 6

The Humble Indie Bundle 6 is now available, offering the chance to get a good deal on some indie games while doing a good deed for charity. Here's word on the new bundle:

DC Universe Online Hand of Fate Released

The DC Universe Online Website announces the Hand of Fate DLC is now available for in DC Universe Online, SOE's MMORPG. Word is: "At the bidding of Doctor Fate or the evil sorcerer Felix Faust, players will undertake Operations – six intense new episodes designed for group play featuring three Heroic and three Villainous – that will take high level players back out to the iconic, open-world cities of Gotham City and Metropolis. Additionally, a wealth of new side missions will be featured, providing more fun and depth to the game's storyline and world. Hand of Fate also provides players with new Utility Belt Attachments and debuts magic-powered Legends PvP characters, bringing a tale of magic and mystery to life."

Steam Hardware Beta Plans

Engadget hears from Valve's Jeri Ellsworth about recently unveiled plans for Valve hardware. She talks of the team's one-year goal being "To make Steam games more fun to play in your living room," implying a controller of some sort. They talk about plans to get prototypes into the hands of gamers for beta testing "in the coming year," though there are no details on how this will work. She also refers to the wearable computer stuff they've discussed as a longer-term goal, saying it's probably two to five years off.

Sword of Fargoal 2 Kickstarter

This Kickstarter seeks funding for Sword of Fargoal 2, a sequel to Sword of Fargoal, a classic Rogulelike dungeon crawler released around 30 years ago for the Commodore VIC-20 and C-64. This is being conducted by SoF creator Jeff McCord, and the campaign's $50,000 goal is to complete the last 20% of a re-imagined version of the game for Windows, OS X, and Linux for release in May 2013.

Goldfinger in 007 Legends

The 007 Legends Website reveals the classic Goldfinger is the fifth James Bond movie that will contribute content to the upcoming game that recreates famous moments from the career of the famed fictional spy. Here's word, though they ***** out on using the proper name Pussy:
In order to thwart the plot, Bond takes action to infiltrate Goldfinger’s headquarters with help from a questionable acquaintance – ***** Galore. Upon arrival at Fort Knox, 007 is tasked with defusing a nuclear bomb before it detonates, and the only thing standing between Bond and the bomb is Goldfinger’s henchman – Oddjob – and his notoriously deadly hat. Will Bond be able to defeat Oddjob? Will Goldfinger’s evil plans succeed? Check out 007 Legends this fall to experience some of the biggest moments in Bond history in this unique movie-inspired game.

More Steam Greenlight Approvals Next Month

Steam News announces the next batch of games to be selected for the Steam Greenlight program will be announced on October 15th, when at least 10 more games will be added to Steam due to popular demand. The Steam Greenlight Blog has further details, including word that each nominated game will no have a dedicated discussion page to make things less confusing.

The Torchlight II Website now offers The Torchlight II soundtrack as a free download. Word is: "We're in the final stretch before launch (2 days!! OMG!!) and we're excited to unlock a treat in honor of all our fans: The full official soundtrack, mixed and mastered specifically for your listening enjoyment, in professional CD-quality. Free." BioWare Founders Retire

The BioWare Blog announces BioWare founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk are retiring from the company they co-founded in 1995 and sold to Electronic Arts in 2007. They offer a message from Ray Muzyka and one from Greg Zeschuk as well as one from Aaryn Flynn, the General Manager of BioWare Edmonton and Montreal, who discusses what this means for the future, including word on a new IP:
Both Dragon Age and Mass Effect started as single games but grew into vast universes. But we aren’t stopping there. While Casey continues to oversee the development of our new Mass Effect project, he and his leads are putting together their vision for an all new game set in a fictional universe, built from the bottom-up with all new gaming technology.

Borderlands 2 Ships - Review Roundup

Today sees the North American release of Borderlands 2, and Gearbox Software's role-playing shooter sequel should now be in stores and is also available via GameStop PC Downloads and Steam. Reviews for the game are also now rolling in, and as of this writing it currently enjoys an 88 review average on Metacritic and an 8.8 user score. You can find individual reviews of the return to Pandora on Ars Technica, AtomicGamer, Computer and Video Games, Destructoid, DVICE, Eurogamer, GameSpy, GameStar.de (in German), Giant Bomb, IGN, Kotaku, Latimes.com, PC Gamer, PCMag.com, Rock, Paper, Shotgun, Shacknews, USATODAY.com, VentureBeat, and Worthplaying. Also, apparently they've been mixing Red Bull and NoDoze at IGN video, as they offer a 40-part video walkthrough of the game.

Guild Wars 2 Beta Mac Client

GuildWars2.com announces a beta version of the OS X client for Guild Wars 2 is now available, allowing Mac owners to play ArenaNet's MMORPG sequel, with one purchase entitling players to play on both systems. Word is:
The Mac Beta is available to anyone who has purchased or purchases Guild Wars 2. All you need is an active Guild Wars 2 account to download the Mac Beta client. Just log in to account.guildwars2.com and click Download Client to get started. If you have any questions, check out our Mac FAQ.

Keep in mind as you play the Mac Beta that it is a beta product. Performance and system requirements aren’t finalized. Review the beta hardware specification, and understand that your overall experience will be better when we release the final version. Even though it’s a beta, the Mac client does connect to the same live environment that the PC client connects to.
To bring Guild Wars 2 to the Mac, ArenaNet worked with our partners at TransGaming, whose Cider technology allows us to mirror the game experience as closely as possible between the PC and Mac. This means that future updates to Guild Wars 2 will be available for both platforms simultaneously.

Anodyne Demo

The Anodyne page on Indie DB offers a playable demo for this throwback adventure game as they try to get the game listed on Desura and Steam Greenlight. Word is: "Anodyne is a 2D adventure where you explore dungeons and landscapes in the dream world of the a human named Young. Anodyne's dungeons are influenced by the Game Boy Zeldas, and the aesthetics are influenced by games like Yume Nikki. It's slated for a late Fall 2012 release for Windows, Mac, and Linux, for $5-$10."

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Collection 4 Next month

The Infinity Ward Facebook Page has word to expect the PC and PS3 release of Collection 4 for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on October 10th. The pack includes five multiplayer maps: Decommission, Off Shore, Gulch, Boardwalk, and Parish. Thanks GameSpy.
