New Indie Royale Bundle

The Indie Royale Website now offers sales of their Back to School Bundle of indie games to, um, help you with your studies (yeah, that's it!). The bundle includes Sword & Soldiers (with Super Saucy Sausage Fest DLC), Lunar Flight, Bunny Must Die, Sequence, Flying Red Barrel, Qlione, and Cute Things Dying Violently. As always, you can buy as early as possible for the lowest price, or pay more than the minimum and lower the price for those who purchase after you, and there is also a bonus chiptune album for those who pay the equivalent of USD $8.00.

Borderlands 2 Videos

An IGN Live Commentary trailer and a Giant Bomb Quick Look trailer each offer looks at gameplay in Borderlands 2, Gearbox Software's upcoming role-playing shooter sequel. The "quick look" runs 50 minutes, so is only quick compared with the IGN trailer, which runs a full 30 seconds longer than a full viewing of Citizen Kane. With almost three hours of combined footage, it seems safe to presume these trailers have some spoilers for the game, which is due for release this week. Thanks nin.

Out of the Blue

We attended the college football game at West Point yesterday with some friends. I've watched tons of NFL football over the years, and have also attended high school games, but I'm pretty sure this was the first college game I've watched in its entirety. The game was fun: Army lost by a point, but hung in admirably after getting behind to keep it competitive in spite of being unable to pass the ball. And the West Point campus is quite beautiful, and expansive as well, something we got to experience in detail as we wandered about for a couple of hours after the game trying to find where we had parked.

Jagged Alliance Online Launches

The Jagged Alliance Online Website announces beta testing has concluded, and this connected installment in the Jagged Alliance series is now officially live:
Hello heads of operations,

We are pleased to announce that Jagged Alliance Online has officially reached the end of beta testing and the full, completed version is now ready to play.

We are proud to present to you one of the most, in our opinion, unique titles in the Jagged Alliance series. We hope you enjoy playing the game!

At this stage we would like to thank all beta testers for their feedback, bug reports, and for the patience and perseverance they have had with both Jagged Alliance Online and ourselves.

Even at the end of the beta testing we are, of course, continuing to work on Jagged Alliance Online and aim to expand the game bit for bit.

Have fun playing!

Ships Ahoy - War of the Human Tanks

Fruitbat Factory announces the release of an English version of War of the Human Tanks, offering a westernization of this story-driven strategy game that's already available in Japan. The game is available through Desura, GamersGate, and Indievania at a 10% introductory discount, and a playable demo is also available. Here's word:

War of the Human Tanks is the first game of the "Human Tanks, Charge!” series. The series pits a group of Human Tanks commanded by the player against the opposing Commanding Officers and their forces in a campaign fought on a series of grid-based maps. Players will have to use their wits to upgrade their units and utilize them to the best of their abilities in order to progress throughout the game.

Features of the full game include:

  • Fast-paced strategic battles in over 30 maps
  • Use resources earned from battles to develop new tanks
  • Customize your tanks with various modules to deadly effect
  • Multiple endings based on your performance
  • Replay the story keeping your previously earned units and resources
  • Free battle mode to practice and gather extra supplies
  • English localization features two all-new bonus maps, hand-drawn battle backgrounds and an improved user interface

War of the Human Tanks is heavily story driven with multiple routes and endings, but you can also skip the story and enjoy dozens of hours of snappy combat," says Ozhan Sen, Localization Manager for Fruitbat Factory. “The Japanese mix of adventure and strategy genres will be a fun and unique experience for many gamers.”

Out of the Blue

I should make the rest of my NFL picks today in case any of you want to match wits before kickoffs tomorrow. I'm already in a hole this week, having somehow allowed the pregame chatter to convince me that this was a different Jay Cutler, who, speaking of picks, quickly reverted to form: A "gracious pigskin donor," as one pundit puts it. Anyway: Chiefs, Saints, Bengals, Colts, Texans, Raiders, Patriots, Giants, Ravens, Cowboys, Redskins, Steelers, Chargers, 49ers, and Falcons.

Picked Links: Thanks Ant and Acleacius.
