Sanctum OS X Plans

Coffee Stain Studios announces plans for a OS X edition of Sanctum, saying the Mac edition of their first-person shooter/tower defense game is due on August 13th. The Sanctum website has details on how to apply to beta test this, saying those who own the Windows edition should all be granted access "shortly." Here's word:
Sanctum has taken Steam by storm, winning the community’s vote for last week’s Community Sale. Come August 13th, Mac users will be able to get their hands on the game and experience the awesomeness that is the first FPS/tower-defense hybrid. Those who own Sanctum now will see a separate Beta version in their games list that they can download and test.

Castle Story Kickstarter

A Kickstarter Campaign for Castle Story launched last night, and this upcoming Minecraft-style voxel construction game from Sauropod Studio blew past its $80,000 goal in a matter of hours, and is now at well over the $200K mark (thanks Jean-Philippe). Here's an overview of the project:
Castle Story is a creative voxel-based strategy game in which you can build castles one brick at a time using an army of little characters called Bricktrons.

Your goal will be to explore a vast landscape full of mysteries and dangers, and defend your castle against onslaughts of hostile creatures and possibly other players.

The world of Castle Story takes place on flying islands, high above an infinite ocean. The islands are made of voxels, cubes made of various elements, which means you can dig, carve and build anything you can imagine in the landscape. Digging underground to gather resources, stacking bricks on top of each other to build a wall or even tunnelling through a mountain is all possible and even necessary to keep your Bricktrons safe.

Carefully designing your castle not only requires creativity and imagination, but thanks to pathfinding AI and physics simulations, Castle Story has layers of strategy and depth on top of an otherwise free-form sandbox experience.

Out of the Blue

Looks like the thunderstorms that have battered much of the country lately are still hanging around here today, and I think they are going to derail our plans. I guess that will work out for Hudson the wonder dog, as our presence will make this less miserable for her, though that's not to say she won't be miserable. Oh well.
