Op Ed

GameFront - Why I'm Not Okay with the Penny Arcade Kickstarter.
But Penny Arcade doesn't need money from Kickstarter, or to crowdsource new projects. It simply would prefer to remove ads from its site for one year, at the cost of a huge amount of money. But it’s choosing to gather that money not through usual business channels, but through Kickstarter — and in a way, it’s taking advantage of the Kickstarter culture and drawing away users who would potentially give funds to more needy projects.

Diablo III Wizard Bug Fix; Barbarian Bug Found?

A thread on the Diablo III forums claims a new bug has been discovered to allow Barbarians to regain 8% of their HP per strike, followed by a fairly confusing debate over whether this is genuine, or trolling based on the recent Wizard bug/exploit (thanks Kotaku). Speaking of which, a post on the Diablo III forums has a more detailed response from Blizzard than the brief comment added to the story about the invulnerable wizard bug/exploit in the action/RPG sequel:

We are currently rolling out a hotfix for a recent bug regarding invulnerable Wizards. We will continue to carefully monitor this issue and welcome anyone with information about bugs or hacks to submit a detailed report to our Hacks Team by emailing hacks@blizzard.com, or by completing the Hacks Report web form. In your correspondence, please include any steps necessary to replicate the issue as well as any additional details you are able to provide.

Make Leisure Suit Larry Developer Switch

A Biweekly Update #1 on the Kickstarter Page for Make Leisure Suit Larry come again says that the redesign of their upcoming adventure game revival is complete, and addresses the news that the project has switched developers (thanks nin). Here's word on that:

Speaking of drama, let’s address the elephant in the room: our switch from Adventure Mob to N-Fusion. I won’t revisit the details, nor address arguments that’ve been made in forums and message boards around the gaming community, but I want to mention that the decisions not to go with Adventure Mob and to go, instead, with N-Fusion were made independently weeks apart. This was not a case of N-Fusion offering a better deal and an abrupt abandonment of one for the other. Paul Trowe, Al Lowe, and I agreed unanimously in both cases, and we agreed on the need to separate from Adventure Mob well before we agreed that N-Fusion was very well suited to accomplish our goals for the game. That’s all I feel comfortable talking about publicly, at least for the time being.

Path of Exile Stress Test Weekend

The latest version adds a challenging Act Two boss fight, weapon swapping, and a new end-game system featuring Maps whose properties, risks and rewards can be modified by players. There is also a new layout for the game’s passive skill tree which features over 1300 skill nodes, allowing highly customized character builds and hybrid classes."
