The Steam Page for Quantum Conundrum now features a demo for this puzzle game from Airtight Games and Portal originator Kim Swift (thanks PC Gamer). Here's the premise of the game: When you, as a young boy, are dropped off to visit your uncle, you notice something’s wrong. First, he’s not there to greet you. Second, there’s the explosion that happened right as you arrived. And third, the house seems to be even weirder than you remembered it. Now, your job is to find—and ultimately rescue—your uncle, by using his newest invention, the Interdimensional Shift Device (or IDS), to switch between dimensions and solve puzzles. That sofa too heavy to move? There’s a dimension for that! Switch to Fluffy Dimension and that sofa is now light as a feather. Need to get up to a high ledge? There’s a dimension for that! Just switch to Anti-Gravity Dimension and things begin to float upward. Need to make things heavier? There’s a dimension for th—well, you get the idea. Switch dimensions in real time, work your way through the crazy complex mansion wings and rescue your uncle!
Devolver Digital announces Hotline Miami, "an asynchronous phone sex simulation game" from Dennaton Games that's coming soon to Windows and OS X and eventually to consoles. Here are some screenshots and the Hotline Miami Website has an Official Announcement Trailer and a hotline number where you can leave a message. The game will be shown off at this weekend's Rezzed show, and here's word: Prolific developer Jonatan Söderström and graphic artist Dennis Wedin have announced their newest game collaboration Hotline Miami will be released under their new joint label Dennaton Games and published by shady game cartel Devolver Digital.
“Dennis Wedin and I have collaborated on some unique projects before but with Hotline Miami we wanted to take our game design to the next level and create an experience that people would think about long after they've stopped playing," said developer Jonatan Söderström.
"Hotline Miami is a gritty homage to the 80s, with a storyline as bizarre as it is emotional. We feel that we've made a game where both the action packed arcade gameplay and a mystifying plot full of twists will keep people glued to their seats throughout the whole experience," added Dennaton partner Dennis Wedin.
Step into the neon-soaked underground of 1980s Miami as bizarre messages on your answering machine seem to be urging you to commit terrible acts of violence – but will you obey? Hotline Miami overflows with raw brutality and skull crushing close combat as you find yourself outgunned and using your wits to choreograph your way through impossible situations. An unmistakable visual style, a driving soundtrack, and a surreal plot that will have you question your own thirst for blood. Bash and blast through over 20 multiscreen levels with 35 unique weapons and collect 25 game-altering masks in one of the darkest and most unusual independent games on the scene.
The hotline itself can be reached at +1 786 519 3708 or @HotlineMiami. Leave a message.
“I was really hoping that Hotline Miami was a phone sex simulator,” said Devolver Digital CFO Fork Parker. “The world is ready for an asynchronous phone sex simulation game. Trust me.”
Hotline Miami is set to murder your PC and Mac soon with plans for console versions underway. Visit HotlineMiami.com for more on the game and Dennaton.com for more on the collaboration between Jonatan Söderström and Dennis Wedin.
Hotline Miami will be available to play at the Rezzed game show July 6 – 7 in Brighton, England. www.rezzed.com
The Vanguard July 2012 Producer's Letter shares the news that the MMORPG is "approaching the final stretch" of its switch to free-to-play. They are now revealing more about how this will work. Here's a bit: Today, we’ve released our free-to-play feature matrix and FAQ (available here) including answers to some of your previous questions, along with information about the upcoming free-to-play transition. A huge thank you to the Vanguard community for your ongoing and helpful feedback (we really are listening so please keep sending us your thoughts!). Your feedback combined with our previous experience transitioning legacy games over to our Free to Play. Your Way model contributed to the development of what we think is the best free-to-play strategy for Vanguard and our players in that we will be providing the most compelling offer for both free and subscribing players.
Many of the matrix features may look familiar as they closely mirror Sony Online Entertainment’s other free-to-play games in that we’re offering more flexible options for every type of player, however, there are a few differences; most obvious being the number of membership tiers. Aside from our free-to-play offering, we determined it was in the best interest of our players to eliminate the Silver membership and instead provide primarily a Gold membership offering. In doing so, we’ve moved a few elements which would normally fall under a subscription category, and opened them up to the players for free.

This document ( Adobe Acrobat format) outlines a legal ruing in the EU that seems to open the door for resale of digitally distributed software (thanks Joao). Here's a bit: Where the copyright holder makes available to his customer a copy – tangible or intangible – and at the same time concludes, in return form payment of a fee, a licence agreement granting the customer the right to use that copy for an unlimited period, that rightholder sells the copy to the customer and thus exhausts his exclusive distribution right. Such a transaction involves a transfer of the right of ownership of the copy. Therefore, even if the licence agreement prohibits a further transfer, the rightholder can no longer oppose the resale of that copy.

Independence day is upon us tomorrow, so we're braced for fireworks. Here's hoping it's mild this year, we had a few go off somewhere off in the distance and my poor Hudson the wonder dog immediately wet the floor and proceeded to tremble for an hour, so any hopes we've had that she was getting better about this are pretty well dashed.
R.I.P.: Andy Griffith Dead at 86. Thanks nin.
