Drunken Robot Pornography Unveiled

Dejobaan Games unveils Drunken Robot Pornography, an upcoming actual game somewhat based upon an April Fools' Joke. They offer a trailer of the game in action, something some PAX East attendees got to experience firsthand, as they say: "We actually had this version on the PAX East showfloor where a few hundred people played it and really enjoyed it. While we are still working through questions like 'What platform?' and 'Will there be nudity?' we are now very confident of an actual launch on some sort of gaming platform." Their actual announcement is more concrete, predicting a Windows and OS X launch this year:

In Drunken Robot Pornography (DRP): You're a small, fleshy human with a jetpack and a gun, and your opponent is a robot centerfold that dwarfs a city block. The robot -- called a Titan -- tries to cut you apart with lasers and missiles powerful enough power to crumble the buildings you're standing on. [Pick off the Titan's cannons, fry away its carbon fiber armor, target a joint, and tear off a claw, leaving it writhing.] Your furious opponent spews raw plasma at you, so you [shoot up] a force field and duck behind it. Who will win? The crowd cheers your [intimate-yet-deadly] dance.

And if fighting giant robots isn't enough, you can fashion your own multistory Titans to unleash on other players. Start with a skeleton of titanium girders, then mount pulse cannons and shielding over hard points. Add actuators so your Titan can flex its arms or tentacles, and jets for locomotion. Pick your materials carefully -- an aluminum finish may be pretty, but graphene armor will better withstand attack. Finally, fuel it up with isopropanol for speed, methanol for strength, or ethanol, if you just want your Titan to end up really, really angry.

Having introduced a playable prototype to PAX East '12 convention-goers to good effect, Dejobaan Games projects a 2012 PC/Mac launch.

Hitman: Absolution in November; Sniper Challenge Bonus

Square Enix and GameStop announce the previously revealed Hitman Sniper Challenge is a preorder incentive for Hitman: Absolution, saying the assassination sequel will be released on November 20th, and that Hitman: Sniper Challenge will be available for consoles next week when preorders commence, and will follow on Steam for Windows PCs on August 1st. Here's word:

Developed by IO Interactive A/S, a Square Enix studio, HITMAN: SNIPER CHALLENGE is not part of the main game, but a stand-alone experience to reward fans who pre-order HITMAN: ABSOLUTION. Players can don the suit of Agent 47 as he takes on an exclusive assassination assignment. From a balcony overlooking a rooftop gathering, players will be tasked with taking out Richard Strong, Jr., CEO of Stallion Armaments, along with his entire staff of bodyguards. Skilled players will capitalize on score multipliers, hidden secrets, unlock equipment upgrades and marvel at the many creative ways one can discretely dispose of a body while they work to fulfil their contract in the most efficient way possible.

An online leaderboard allows players to compare their sniping abilities with monthly prizes, keeping the stakes high through launch. In North America, the top sniper at the time of HITMAN: ABSOLUTION's launch will win a trip for two to Copenhagen, Denmark where they will meet with the HITMAN development team and have their likeness incorporated into the next HITMAN game. Keep an eye on www.HitmanSniper.com for more details. Additionally, the high-powered Kazo TRG sniper rifle used in the challenge can be carried over into the main game along with all the "Sniper Challenge" upgrades and unlockables earned.

"HITMAN: SNIPER CHALLENGE sets a new industry standard for pre-order incentives," said Mona Hamilton, vice president of marketing at Square Enix, Inc. "For all those HITMAN fans that just can't wait to play HITMAN: ABSOLUTION, they can immediately take part in an exclusive competition featuring the original assassin when they pre-order at GameStop."

Available May 15, HITMAN: SNIPER CHALLENGE will be downloadable exclusively for customers who pre-order through GameStop for the PlayStation®Network and Xbox LIVE®. The Windows PC version will be made available through Steam on August 1, 2012. For more information, please visit: www.HitmanSniper.com .

Out of the Blue

Well, if Manstovia is to be relocated, we're taking it out in style, as yesterday I took delivery of the rotisserie unit for my grill, and am gearing up to learn the art of rotation assisted grilling. I was recently reading something grilling guru Steven Raichlen wrote about being mystified that more Americans do not do the rotisserie thing, and it struck a chord, so when I saw the rotisserie on sale, I could not resist. My grill has a separate coals holder for this, and I'm not completely picturing how it will go together, but I'm looking forward to finding out. The other neat thing is this has a light attached to it: I'll just need to work through using it safely, as it's not weatherproof (but neither is the rotisserie).
