Wasteland 2 Website; Update

The Wasteland Chronicles welcomes us to what is the new home for Wasteland 2, the upcoming post apocalyptic sequel from inXile entertainment. They mostly discuss fulfilling their obligations to their Kickstarter backers, but offer this outline for the semi-near future:
Now that we’re funded, you’re probably wondering what happens for the next 18 months. We’ve been hard at work preparing our core design principles vision document. This document contains a solid overview of the important elements from which we will be crafting the detailed game design document. Before we started on the vision document, we spent a lot of time on our forums reading what elements you feel are important and what systems and features you’re not too fond of. The vision document will be available on our Wasteland portal in the next few weeks.

We already have an amazing community on our forums, and we know that it’s going to get better and better as we get further along in the game. If you haven’t done so already, head there and let us know what’s important to you. We’ve seen some wonderful suggestions that have already improved the vision of the game!

Op Ed

CNET Australia - Anders Breivik, video games and the militarisation of society.
Both critics and supporters of games and gaming, it seems, are unable or unwilling to address the big picture: that Western societies are undergoing a process of militarisation.

Militarisation is the social process through which societies are organised in ways that allow for the production of violence. According to the feminist writer Cynthia Enloe, militarisation describes a process through which individuals come to view militaristic ideas and military needs as being significant and the norm.

Out of the Blue

We enjoyed some outdoor time over the weekend in spite of fairly chilly weather. I usually grill on the weekends anyway, and now with the prospect of having to relocate the newly declared nation of Manstovia, I am unlikely to pass up on the chance to char some food. Yesterday's bonus was throwing a fry pan on the grill and firing up some bacon as a garnish... it's really nice to be able to do that and not worry about the mess. And now I have a beautiful little jar of bacon grease in the fridge in case I need to add a dash of healthiness to a future recipe. Mmmmm bacon.
