Far Cry 3 in September

The Far Cry Website now offers a new "Stranded" trailer from Far Cry 3, the next installment in the first-person shooter series. The NSFW cinematic clip sets the story for the game, and reveals its release date, concluding saying it is due on September 4, 2012, and that you can get four free missions by preordering at GameStop.

Assassin's Creed 3 in October

Assassin's Creed 3 is due in October, reports VG247, saying this was revealed by Ubisoft in a conference call for investors. The news is accompanied by no further details about the next installment in the stealth/action series.

Deep Black: Reloaded Demo

A playable demo is now available for Deep Black: Reloaded, Biart's science-fiction, third-person shooter. The download is available on AtomicGamer and AusGamers Files, and here' AtomicGamer's description: "Featuring 40 single player missions across land and water, Deep Black: Reloaded is set in a desolate near future of global terrorism and espionage as players become involved in a desperate fight for world supremacy and the possession of a sophisticated biological weapon."

Orcs Must Die! Mod Support

Robot Entertainment now offers modification capabilities for Orcs Must Die!, stressing this support is, well, unsupported. Word is: "We have created a path that allows users to modify Onslaught files for Orcs Must Die! Onslaught files are the files that control the enemies, timing, and various other details of the waves in Orcs Must Die!" Thanks nin.

Steam news announces preloads are now underway for a free Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 weekend:

Double Fine Adventure Platforms & More Details Revealed

This Double Fine Adventure Update #1 on YouTube features Tim Schafer on the game Double Fine will make with the proceeds of their successful kickstarter campaign. He says the money raised beyond their expectations will make for a better game, and he also reveals a preliminary list of target platforms, in this order: "PC, Mac, and Linux. And on mobile it's going to be iOS devices and certain Android phones, like *my* Android phone and a couple more (just kidding...)." He also announces they will offer a closed beta to backers through Steam, and a DRM-free version will be part of its retail release. Thanks nin.

DC Universe Online DLC #3 Announced

Sony Online Entertainment announces details on "The Battle for Earth," the third DLC pack for DC Universe Online, their free-to-play MMORPG. This introduces "earth" powers, and more: "The Battle for Earth offers players a new storyline with more action, epic battles, a ninth power set, and opens up a new chapter featuring a pair of the most legendary DC Universe figures ever - from the future. Free BF3 With Origin ME3 Preorders

EA's Origin Website is now offering a free copy of Battlefield 3 with preorders of Mass Effect 3, BioWare's upcoming action/RPG sequel. This seems to cover both the standard edition for all platforms and the PC-exclusive digital deluxe edition.

The Walking Dead Website; FAQ, Talk Show

A new The Walking Dead Website is online as a home to Telltale Games' upcoming episodic game based on the zombie infested comic series that's spawned the popular TV series of the same name. The site includes a FAQ as well as Playing Dead. Episode one is due in the spring, and the FAQ says it's "just around the corner."

The Shank Comic

The Official Shank 2 Blog now offers The Shank digital comic as a free download. Here's what this is about: "Bridging the period between the two Shank games, the action-packed comic features sixteen pages of over-the-top original artwork from Klei's creative director Jeff Agala and artist Vangelis Christou -- it's a must-have for Shank fans and a great intro for new players!" The comic can also be downloaded for iPad, Android, and Kindle Fire for free from Comixology.

Nexuiz Remake This Spring; Trailer

THQ and Machinima announce a February 29th release date for the Xbox 360 edition of Nexuiz, their upcoming CryENGINE 3-powered first-person shooter remake. This announcement also includes word to expect the Windows PC and PlayStation 3 editions this spring. Here's a new Nexuiz Dynamic Mutator Trailer showing off these "game-changing power ups that can turn the tide of battle in an instant."

ShootMania: Storm Art

The ShootMania Website now offers the first artwork from ShootMania, the upcoming first-person shooter from Nadeo, the creators of TrackMania. The image shows a science-fiction setting and indicates the game's full title will be ShootMania: Storm. That's all for now, but the site does say: "More information coming soon." Thanks Frans.

Australian R18+ Bill Introduced

The Sydney Morning Herald has word that, as expected, legislation is under consideration by the Australian Parliament to introduce an R18+ rating to allow the sale of games restricted to adults. They outline the situation nicely here: "Currently the highest rating is MA15+ which can mean that games for sale to adults only overseas have to be modified to meet the Australian rating requirements or not be sold at all. The new laws would bring computer games in line with the classification system for films and make Australia more consistent with international standards." On a related note, there's a short guest blog on Aussie site Player Attack written by Jason Clare, the Home Affairs Minister who wrote the legislation.
