Leisure Suit Larry Revival

Replay Games announces it has acquired the rights to the Leisure Suit Larry franchise, and are teaming with series originator Al Lowe to rerelease an updated version of the first game, Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards, in Q4 2012. The game will be released for Windows, OS X, XBLA, PSN, iOS, Android, On-Live, and Gaikai, and if they find an audience nostalgic for the adventures of lovelorn Larry Laffer, they can see working on new installments as well as remakes. Here is some concept art. "I'm totally jazzed to work with long-term friend and Sierra buddy, Paul Trowe," says Lowe. "He's worked tirelessly for years to get the Larry rights and return them to the hands of the Sierra ‘family.’ Working with Paul's team ensures that the world’s favorite leisure suit-wearer remains the same guy we all learned to love a quarter-century ago. I'll oversee the entire production of these games to ensure the highest standards and some amazing new adventures for my pal, Larry. It's great to see my creation released from his digital dungeon!"

Heroes & Generals Announced

Reto-Moto announces Heroes & Generals, a browser-based first-person shooter/strategy game hybrid that's the debut project from this developer recently formed by veterans of IO Interactive. This trailer offers a cinematic teaser for the game and this batch of screenshots offers some shots from the trailer, some concept art, as well as some in-game shots. The Heroes & Generals website also offers a trailer with gameplay footage as well as signups for the alpha test. Here's word on the game:

Heroes & Generals delivers a full blown first-person shooter experience, complete with intense infantry and vehicle combat in a wide variety of modes and missions, fought on behalf of the Axis or Allies. As your customizable character advances in rank, you might join a small squad of elite soldiers operating behind enemy lines, or fall-in with a larger section fighting an epic battle for a strategic bridgehead.

The result of every clash alters the ongoing battle for European domination. Each conflict takes place across diverse battlegrounds including contested cities, factories, airfields and war torn country-sides, each one represented on the strategic map with hundreds of key locations.

As these battles are waged, resources and global strategies are managed on a tactical overview map linked to the game’s innovative War Server. Here, players who choose to be strategic officers will have the entire map at their disposal and can decide how to manage battlefield assets and where to push the attack.

Afterfall: InSanity Preorders

The Afterfall: InSanity Website is now accepting preorders for Afterfall: InSanity, the upcoming Unreal Engine 3 shooter from Polish developer Nicolas Games. They are offering pre-purchases for one dollar with a target of 10 million sales: If they reach that target ten percent will go to charity, and if they fail to reach it, then 100% goes to charity:

The pre-orders can be made directly from the game's website www.afterfall-universe.com. Once the company's target goal is achieved Afterfall: InSanity will be distributed among the p2p (peer 2 peer) networks such as Torrent. Additionally, 10% of the revenues will be donated to one of the largest charity organisations in the world. However, if the number of pre-orders does not reach the 10 million copy sales target, then the revenue collected will be donated to the charity in its entirety. Besides the game itself, players will receive the soundtrack as an added bonus, and those who will register their order will immortalized as part of the game by having their names included as part of the credits.

Nicolas Games is throwing down the gauntlet to the whole industry. 'As an independent distributor we can afford to try starting a revolution. Being absolute game fanatics ourselves, we want to prove that high-class games do not have to be associated with high price tags. Our goal is to attract players from all over the world and offer them a great deal; if we can get 10 million people to buy our game we will sell it for just 1 dollar. I strongly believe that this news will electrify the whole market and together we will set a new record,' Tomasz Majka, the CEO of Nicolas Games said.
