GTA5 Footage Leaked?

This YouTube trailer is purportedly leaked footage of Grand Theft Auto V, said to show a setting around Honolulu, Hawaii. It's hard to evaluate the clip, as it's so shaky and out of focus it looks like it was shot within a storage container as it rolled down a mountain. In the end, this is such a mess it doesn't seem to matter much whether it's authentic or not. Thanks PC Games.

TDU2 Free DLC Released?

The Test Drive Unlimited 2 DLC that was promised for free to make up for bugs in the racing sequel is now available for Windows, and coming soon to consoles, according to Joystiq. They do not say where to find it, and it's not mentioned by the Test Drive Unlimited 2 Website or the TDU2 Forums, but perhaps this is one of those automatic update dealies.

Valve Single Player Clarification

A Gabe Newell interview offers a clarification of recent comments that "Portal 2 will probably be Valve's last game with an isolated single-player experience." Here's word:

“I think what we’re trying to talk about is the fact that, not that we’re not doing single player games. Portal 2 was a pretty good example of what we’ve learned over the years in terms of how to create those experiences. It’s more that we think we have to work harder in the future, that entertainment is inherently increased in value by having it be social, by letting you play with your friends, by recognizing that you’re connected with other people.”
[…]
“That’s the thing that we’re trying to say, is that, single player is great but we also have to recognize that you have friends, and we wanna have that connected as well. So, it’s not about giving up on single player at all, it’s like saying, we actually think that there’s a bunch of features and capabilities that we need to add into our single player games to recognize the socially connected gamer.”

Op Ed

Cliffski's Blog - Indie Game pricing pressures.
There seems to be an unwritten rule developing that indie games must be under £10, preferably under $10. This is MAD. Harry Potter was written by ONE person. just ONE. It’s production costs were tiny. Does that mean you saw the harry potter books on sale for a third the price of other books? Of course not. Nobody slots books or plays into an ‘indie’ category and tries to get them cheap, ditto music. Do you pay less for an Adele album than a Queen album, because Queen had more members? That would be silly.

Out of the Blue

Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers out there, and of course to the rest of you as well. Today is also the birthday of my brother WalterEgo, which is another reminder of my mom, as she embraced her motherhood wholeheartedly, so having one of her kids' birthdays occasionally fall on Mother's Day could only have been more appropriate if it was mine, since of course I was the favorite (of course I kid, as this is the perfect opportunity to bust my bro's chops on his birthday).
