GameSlice has an explanation for the apparent Modern Warfare 3 countdown that turned out to be a hoax. Geoff Keighley explains what the countdown is actually for: "Instead, I can exclusively report that Findmakarov.com is the creation of We Can Pretend, an independent Toronto, Canada-based creative collective that is expected to launch a project inspired by Call of Duty on March 2. Production sources who worked on the self-funded project call it visually spectacular." Thanks Joystiq.

You can play Dead Space 2 here (after a short survey): https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/F2QFNY7
You can play Spore here: CLICK HERE
You can already play SIMS with Gaikai here: http://www.thesims3.com/trial
You can already try Second Life here: http://maps.secondlife.com/ (Just wait and if your connection quality to our Server is fast enough, a pop-up will appear.)
Our next phase is to start embedding Gaikai into gaming websites, so visitors can try the latest games. We already have run millions of connection tests, but the more the better.
The Mythos Europe Website announces an April 12th launch of open beta testing of Mythos, HanbitSoft's continuation of Flagship Studios' online action/RPG (thanks Massively). Word is: If you’re hankering after a little virtual butchery, then the 12th of April is the date to remember! This is the start date for the Mythos Open Beta, allowing fearless hack’n’slashers to test the game’s vital signs before its main release. The level cap has been raised from 27 to 50 for the open beta phase meaning that bloodthirsty daredevils will get their first chance to take a look around the third zone, Umbral Peaks.
But before the Open Beta gets underway, the current Closed Beta Phase is being expanded to include further languages. Now, role-playing fans can strike Mythos’ monstrosities from their screens in French, German, Turkish, Polish and English. Further features have also been introduced to the game including PvP duels in the towns of Uld.
But if your axe is aching for a little action even before the Open Beta starts, there’s still time to register for the currently active Closed Beta!

Hooked Gamers - A Modest Proposal About DRM.
I think that a next generation of DRM can be built upon what has already been tested and tried on the PC. Utilizing a serial code system similar to what is used in most physical copies of PC games nowadays the collective might of the console gaming section of the industry could actually create an easy-to-update, simple and user-friendly system. Such a new DRM system should be composed of three main components: a serial number system, a user-friendly confirmation system, and most importantly, a checks-and-balances system to make sure that all is maintained.

Well tonight is Hollywood's chance to honor itself again with more awards. I heard Richard Roper on Howard Stern last week make a great point about this show, which is that they should cut the audio from the auditorium when they list those who died over the past year, as it would be far more respectful for the list to be read to silence, rather than rousing applause for the movie equivalents of jocks and cheerleaders interspersed with awkward quiet smatterings for the movie equivalents of the AV squad and the glee club. It won't matter to me though, as we won't be watching: In years past MrsBlue has occasionally roped me into the show, but she has a somewhat arbitrary dislike of Anne Hathaway, so I'm in no danger in that regard tonight. Here's hoping she's a hit and is signed on as permanent host.
