Test Drive Unlimited 2 Fixes

A message on the Test Drive Unlimited 2 Forums from Atari's David Nadal, head producer on the racing sequel, has word from Eden Studios saying they have cleared up many of the the bugs and other issues in the recently released racing sequel (thanks Erik). Word is:

Thanks to TDU2's dedicated community, Eden Studios has been able to identify and address connectivity and DLC issues that some players experienced at launch and we are working around the clock to continue optimizing the game. As with many large multiplayer and MMO launches, the initial rush of new players into the game revealed a variety of issues that are now mostly addressed. Based on our interaction with the community, most of you should be able to play the game without issues. We value the feedback and will continue addressing issues around the clock. Thanks for your support and we'll see you in Ibiza.

On PC Battlefield 3

The GameInformer.com offers a pair of new video interviews with DICE's Karl-Magnus Troedsson shot in DICE's Swedish offices. In one clip the DICE general manager discusses the creation of Battlefield 3, their upcoming military shooter sequel, and in the other he discusses their company's general philosophy. Topics include the reason for the long gap between Battlefield 2 and 3, their regrets over not bringing Battlefield: Bad Company to PCs ("if we could have, we would have done differently"), how they endeavor to have none of the versions for different systems "ports," though the PC is the "main" platform for Battlefield 3, introducing single-player play to what started as a multiplayer franchise, and more.

Guild Wars 2 Testing This Year

The Guild Wars 2 FAQ has an update about plans for testing of ArenaNet's upcoming MMORPG sequel: "We will be conducting small closed alpha and beta tests in 2011. The feedback from these tests will determine when we will do public beta tests and ship the game. Guild Wars 2 is a very large and ambitious game, and Guild Wars players rightfully have very high expectations. We want players to be absolutely blown away by the game the first time they experience it." Guild Wars 2 Guru has word from ArenaNet that this does not change the game's non-specific release schedule: "The existence of friends and family closed alpha and closed beta this year has changed nothing about the release date. The release date continues to be: when the game is ready." Thanks Massively.

Commercial Dear Esther Plans

A remake of Thechineseroom's Half-Life 2 modification Dear Esther will be released on Steam as a commercial game this summer, reports GameSetWatch. "The new version of Dear Esther will take the game to a completely new level and we're confident it will be one of the stand-out indie titles of 2011," says creator Dan Pinchbeck. "Once again, this shows that games are probably the most exciting and innovative medium on the planet right now, and we're really happy to be right at the cutting edge of that."

Crusader Kings II Interview

The Crusader Kings II interview on Hooked Gamers chats with Chris King, game designer on Crusader Kings II, Paradox Interactive's upcoming grand strategy sequel. Topics include satisfying a fan base obsessed with historical accuracy, playing as a ruler rather than a nation, depicting the political volatility of the game's setting, feudal politics, tactics and combat systems, their new interface, and more.

Gabe Newell Profile

A Gabe Newell profile on Forbes.com that hears from the Valve managing director and some of Valve's competitors about a variety of general topics. These include how Gabe's vision was saved a couple of years ago by cornea transplants, how Valve is "tremendously profitable," his hobby as a machinist, competition and cooperation with retailers, cloud gaming, and more. Thanks Voodoo Extreme.

Out of the Blue

It is a culinary weekend here in the BlueTower, as I absolutely stuffed myself at our favorite Italian restaurant last night with one of my favorite dishes, pasta in Bolognese sauce. That would be tough to top, but today the plan is to get to try some new barbeque from a very highly regarded spot, where I am no doubt going to gorge myself again. Mmmmm barbeque.
