The
DC Universe Online Website has word on a "legend pricing" deal on three-month subscriptions for SOE's superhero MMORPG that will give players a 25% discount off the regular price. They will begin offering the deal on Tuesday, and players must sign on before their 30-day free trial ends or March 1, 2011, whichever comes first. Thanks

The Writers Guild of America
announces the WGA Award winners, where Ubisoft's Patrice Desilets, Jeffrey Yohalem, Corey May, Jeffrey Yohalem, Ethan Petty, Nicholas Grimwood, and Matt Turner were honored for their work on videogame writing winner
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. Not all games were actually eligible, as companies like
BioWare and Rockstar "refused" to enter (registration required) the competition because writers are required to
join the Videogame Writers Caucus, which costs $60 USD per year. Thanks

GameSetWatch - Minecraft And The Question Of Luck.
Minecraft is a game that makes industry heads spin. Its developer is on the way to becoming a superstar, it’s generating huge sales for an indie game, and yet it's the nerdiest game that has been seen for years. Many insiders have quietly concluded that the game is just lucky-- a non-repeating event, a freak of nature.
If it’s not lucky, then cats will lie with dogs and gravity is inverted. Everything that we think we know, we actually wouldn’t know. The truth is that Minecraft is not a freak of nature. It’s a harbinger of the shape of things to come.
Today is Super Bowl Sunday, so later today we will be treated to the spectacle of $3 million/minute commercials that will be occasionally interrupted by a tackle football game. I am 7-3 in the playoffs so far, but this seems like the toughest pick of the postseason. I'm going with the Packers.
