The 2K Forums have word from 2K Elizabeth that plans to bring the Minerva's Den DLC and the Protector Trials pack to the PC edition of BioShock 2 have been scrapped. She offers apologies, saying: "We will also not be offering Protector Trials and Minerva’s Den on the PC in the future – and I want to say that I’m sorry for the disappointment this will cause to PC players out there. As always, if any of these issues change in the future, I will update you guys first, but at this point in time I don’t want to make you wait any longer and these are the most definite answers I have and you guys should deem them final decisions." A later post adds a vague explanation, saying: "Timing and technical issues were the problem." Thanks Eurogamer.

A number of team kits have also been updated in line with their current use, and four more licensed boots have been incorporated."

Steam now offers a new automatic patch with new features and bug-fixes for Making History II: The War of the World, the World War II grand strategy sequel from Muzzy Lane Software. The related update on the Making History Blog indicates this is a hotfix for version 1.0.19, also available through the auto-updater. Word is they are taking a "zero tolerance" policy towards game breaking bugs: "Now that the game has settled out we are shifting our release schedule. We will be adopting a 'zero tolerance' policy for game breaking bugs (like crashes or game stalls) - if something is reported and fixed it will be released as a hotfix to the current release. Feature releases will move towards a once a month schedule and focus on specific aspects of the game. The next feature release is focusing on diplomatic AI, nation gameplay (including revolts), and usability. As always, your input is welcome and encouraged!"

An Outerlight interview on Big Download talks with Chris Peck, co-founder of Outerlight, indie developer of The Ship and Bloody Good Time, two projects that began as Source-engine modifications before becoming commercial games. The discussion covers the ups and downs they've experienced, the pros and cons of independent self-publishing through Steam, and the current state of the company, which Peck says "has all but been dissolved." Here's his outlook: "The status of Outerlight is 'critically endangered'. Personally, I really hope the company will be revived. I know we made some mistakes, but I also know we got a lot right, we had a very happy, and very productive team, and we produced some innovative ideas, and I know I had a lot more good ideas, which I hope will see the light of day. I'd also say that while games development is challenging, it's also very rewarding. So, if there are any savvy investors out there, please get in touch!"
