The Tactical Intervention Website is now accepting signups from those interested in participating in upcoming closed beta testing of this upcoming first-person shooter from one of the creators of the original Counter-Strike. Word is the beta will begin on May 28, and they expect it to run for two or three months. Here's word on the game: "Tactical Intervention is a game of team-play, where the proper use of dogs, helicopters, cars, and environments can give teams an advantage over their adversaries. These new elements create a dynamic environment that gives each round a unique feel and challenges the players to always be aware of his surroundings." The site also has a new
video trailer from the game.
Though it's not noted on the
Digitalmindsoft Website, a new version 1.17.5.1 hotfix is now available for
Men of War, the World War II real-time strategy sequel from Best Way. The download can be found on
The Patches Scrolls.
The
Mytheon Forums announce that beta testing of
Mytheon continues, in spite of a current legal action concerning the game (thanks
Big Download). Word is: "Last week, a complaint was filed on behalf of True Games Interactive against Petroglyph Games regarding the development of Mytheon. Despite these activities, Mytheon will proceed through Open Beta and launch officially in the near future. We cannot provide more details at this time." The legal action is a lawsuit over the game's source code and completion, something we missed at the time when it was reported on
Massively, where they say publisher True Games has sued Petroglyph, saying the developer has failed to deliver the final product as scheduled, and has made "repeated, unreasonable demands... for additional funds and concessions." They quote Petroglyph CEO Chuck Kroegel saying, "It was NEVER conceived to be a full-blown MMO, which costs upwards of $15 million and three to five years to complete. The trend, however, over the last months has been to move this game to the scope of a full-blown MMO." They also link to the
full court document (
Adobe Acrobat format).
The
Digital Combat Simulator Website now offers a new patch for
DCS: Black Shark to update the English edition of this helicopter combat simulation to version 1.0.2. Word is: "This patch adds multiplayer compatibility between the Black Shark and Flaming Cliffs 2. As such, either game can host a multiplayer mission that both products can fly in. Several additions and a few bugfixes have also been included in this patch." The download is mirrored on
The Patches Scrolls.

The
Kings and Castles Video Blog Episode #14 features more of Gas Powered Games' Chris Taylor harassing his staff and showing off more of
Kings and Castles, their upcoming real-time strategy game. Chris also cracks open the mailbag and answers fan-submitted questions. One query is about beta plans, and Chris says they plan "a very comprehensive beta program, that would probably start, by my guess, early to mid next year." Thanks

There's a
Split/Second interview on Eurogamer talking with David Jefferies, technical director on Black Rock Studio's upcoming racing game. Along the way the British developer comes as close as we've ever heard to someone actually using the phrase
cor blimey: "Pure's engine is based on a core set of libraries called Blimey that have been in development at our studio for the past 10 years. They provide all the basic building blocks for making a game, such as maths functions, serialisation, memory and file management and so on."
