The Guild Wars 2 Website now features a "Dynamic Events Overview" where Lead Content Designer Colin Johanson outlines how quests will be generated in ArenaNet's upcoming MMORPG sequel. Colin describes two fundamental changes they are making: One is that you will not need quests explained to you, as you will be able to experience the situation firsthand (the example being a dragon attack where you see the dragon, rather than having it explained to you), and the other is the real consequences of these situations, offering an example of what happens if you fail to complete a quest properly. He explains the benefits of such an approach: By building a world where you see and hear the experiences, Guild Wars 2 will evolve the MMORPG genre by making a game world that feels truly alive. The core of this evolution is our event system, which allows the world to dynamically change based on actions and decisions made by the players. A single player decision can cascade across a zone, changing the direction of a chain of events until they dramatically alter the content played by players in a map.

The Battlefield Blog announces plans to add a co-op Onslaught gameplay mode to Battlefield: Bad Company 2, offering a trailer showing off the mode. The update only mentions this coming to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, which has inspired numerous comments from perturbed PC players. The question of whether this is coming to the PC is addressed in this post by DICE Associate Producer Barrie "Bazajaytee" Tingle, who indicates that they may yet bring Onslaught to PCs, but they are struggling with how this would impact dedicated servers. Word is: The question of "What about PC?" is coming up in the comments quite a lot already so this is what the situation is.
No, we haven't signed away rights to console on this. The problem we have on PC is that all our servers are dedicated with providers. Changing a server from Conquest 32 players to Onslaught 4 players cuts out 28 player slots from the total ammount available. This could have a dramatic affect on the PC online environment if enough servers changed to Onslaught.
We aren't ruling out Onslaught on PC but at this time we are researching how to bring it to PC without affecting players who don't have Onslaught or their own server to run it on.

Boots is one of the best money collectors in town; his driving skills match his fists, fast and hard."

The Michael Pachter Interview on Eurogamer talks with the analyst about his job as an analyst for Wedbush Morgan Securities, and public perception of the statements he is famed for making about the game industry. When asked about his accuracy, he admits to being wrong frequently: "All the time. All the time. But who cares? I'm glad you asked that question. It's not my job to induce investors to do something, to compel them to action. That's not my job. My job is to make them better informed so they can make better-informed decisions. It would be naive of me and extremely arrogant of me to believe that I'm the only person that they would ever speak to and I'm the only source of data they would ever have."
I managed to strain my back doing something that seems like an obvious way to do so, except until I hurt myself I didn't even realize I did it. I was in the car and needed to get my wallet, so I braced my head against the headrest and arched my back to get to my back pocket when I felt the strain. As I say, I never was previously conscious of this maneuver, but now that I am, I'm surprised I haven't hurt myself this way before.
