New FINAL FANTASY XI Scenario Plans

Square Enix announces plans to launch three new Battle Area add-on scenarios for FINAL FANTASY XI over the course of this year, offering "new stages for epic combat, providing high-level players with new equipment to collect and challenging monsters to battle." These scenarios will require ownership of the previously released RISE OF THE ZILART and WINGS OF THE GODDESS expansions to allow players to travel from Abyssea to shining Abyssea in Vision of Abyssea, Scars of Abyssea, and Heroes of Abyssea. The scenarios will be $9.99 USD each, and the first to be released will be Vision of Abyssea, expected this summer. All three scenarios will launch simultaneously online in North America, Japan and Europe for all supported platforms. All this is related in this announcement, and an add-on teaser website is online.

Splinter: Cell Conviction Delays Explained

The multiple delays to Splinter: Cell Conviction were to provide extra time to fix issues with the game's AI, among other things, Ubisoft game designer Patrick Redding reveals to Computer and Video Games. "You know, as is always the case, you develop this kind of laundry list and think: 'Aw man, if only we had an extra bit of polish time to really go after that and that and that, plus all the usual debugging, that'd be wonderful'," he tells them. "So I mean a lot of it has been fixing issues with the AI, adding different challenge levels, giving the player the right level of difficulty at first." The comments are part of a larger interview about the stealth/action sequel.

New Aliens vs Predator 2 Campaign

A new Survival Campaign for Aliens vs Predator 2 is now available, a mod extending the life of this older AvP game just as the newer one is appearing in stores. This is described as a "Final Unfinished Beta Release," and requires AvP2 to be patched to the current version 1.0.9.6. Thanks Prez.

Out of the Blue

With the Winter Olympics drawing to a close today, I find myself in the odd position of having watched some of the competitions along the way, which is unusual for me. In fact, I will probably watch the hockey game this afternoon, which in and of itself would be more viewing than I do for the typical Olympics. Weird.
