WoW 3.3 Info Roundup

World of Warcraft Forums have a roundup of numerous articles and announcements Blizzard has posted over the past few weeks as part of the run up to the launch of version 3.3 of their MMORPG. There are articles on the new dungeon, the all-new dungeon system, disenchanting, fishing, new loot, and more. Also, the PTR 3.3.0 Patch Notes have been updated. Thanks Ant.

New FRAPS Adds Win7 Support

The FRAPS Website now offers a new version 3.0.0 of the FRAPS real-time video capture and benchmarking software. The new version adds support for Windows 7 and DirectX 11 and also now captures 3D Vision stereoscopic 3D, adds a lossless RGB option for professional use, and the ability to mix game sounds with game output for Ventrilo and TeamSpeak users. Thanks Voodoo Extreme.

Standalone Prometheus

A new standalone version 4.0 of Prometheus is now available, built using the just-released Unreal Development Kit which allows the game to be played without owning any other Unreal-engine games. Prometheus can be downloaded from BeyondUnreal, FilePlanet (registration required), and Mod DB. Here's a bit on the game: "You're never alone when you have a clone. With the Prometheus Device, you control Einsteinian Physics laws of time and space. Create distinct past, present, and future Quantum States of yourself to solve puzzles and accomplish mission goals in this single player co-op game. You’ll need to keep your wits and memory sharp using an original game play mechanic presented in multi-dimensional format inspired by Portal and Mirror's Edge."

GameTrailers has a pair of gameplay trailers from Mass Effect 2, BioWare's upcoming RPG sequel. There's a a Garrus Gameplay trailer that shows the game's dialog system and some combat. There's also an Afterlife Gameplay trailer that has its own dialogue sequence and Shepard showing he can't hold his liquor.

Assassin's Creed II Video Diary

Assassin's Creed II Video Dev Diary Part VI is titled Home Sweet Home, as the developers at Ubisoft Montreal describe the role of the assassin's villa in the upcoming stealth/action sequel, the "incredible scope" of the game, the database of historical background the game will include, design "rules" they are breaking, and more.

The Saboteur Open World Preview Trailer

The Saboteur Open World Demo on GameSpot Video offers a video preview of The Saboteur, narrated by Tom French, lead designer on the upcoming World War II action game. The clip shows our supposedly stealthy protagonist in a rooftop firefight against what seems like the entire German army, but thankfully he makes it through alive, since he only gets shot about a hundred times. There's also an update to the game's Resistance Blog introducing Skylar St. Claire, who apparently uses her snappin' gyro for the cause of the resistance.

Modern Warfare 2 Interview

On Bringing Modern Warfare 2 To Life on Gamasutra is a Q&A with Joel Emslie, lead character artist on Infinity Ward's upcoming military shooter sequel, answering a few highfaluting questions such as this one: "The name of your game is Modern Warfare. By its nature, the game's characters have to compete with our intrinsic knowledge of the actual modern world we live in, and what we see on the news. How do you approach that as a character artist, along with the practical concerns of making gameplay-readable designs?"

DOOM Classic Source Code

The DOOM Classic Website now offers downloads of the source code for DOOM Classic for the iPhone as well as instructions on how to compile the code on a Mac OS X system. Thanks Frans.
