Arkham Asylum Sequel Planned?

GOONL!NE has a quote from Issue 38 of the Official Playstation Magazine where Rocksteady's Sefton Hill plays it coy, but still hints that they may be creating another Batman game to follow their well-received Batman: Arkham Asylum:

"I’m not really allowed to comment on that, but there are definitely lots of exciting stories to tell in Batman's world, and I can say that we’re really privileged to work on it, and excited about future possibilities."

Star Trek D-A-C November 17

A November release date for the Windows edition of Star-Trek D-A-C was announced last month, and now Big Download has word that the specific date is November 17, saying the game will be sold on Steam. D-A-C, already available on consoles, is an arcade space-combat game based on the recent Star Trek reboot movie. Here is a reminder of the concept: "Star Trek: D-A-C allows fans to directly control a variety of ships and pitch battles between Starfleet and the Romulan Empire. Up to 12 players can compete in thrilling team combat. There are three game play modes: Single player, online multiplayer and online co-op. For each mode, there are four different game types - Team Assault, DeathMatch, Conquest, and the all-new Survival mode, pitting players against increasingly overwhelming waves of enemies in order to set the record for survival time."

Ships Ahoy - Fort Zombie

Paradox Interactive announces the release of Fort Zombie, as this casual RPG from Kerberos Productions is now available via digital distribution. The game is available from Direct2Drive and Impulse, and here's word:

Assemble your party from the survivors you can find. Equip them and send them out to find weapons, ammo and food, to help with the survival effort. Seek out military and emergency vehicles, the best sources for hardware and vital ammunition. Select from an assortment of handguns, shotguns, rifles and assault-weapons or pick-up an ever reliable fire-axe. Then shoot, swing and bash your way through an endless sea of undead.

New Alien Assault

Teardown now offers a new version 1.01 of Alien Assault, the space strategy shooter remake of Space Hulk (thanks Morris). Word is this is: "An improved version with a lot of fan requests, some bugfixing and a completely new campaign from our own developer Niklas. Sink your teeth into it this weekend and I will try to update this homepage a lot more from now on."

TF2 Micro-Sale

Valve has popped up a couple of two-hour sales in the past couple of days for Team Fortress 2, urging folks to participate in this weekend's The Terrifying Team Fortress 2 Haunted Halloween Special. A sale is now underway, and you can get Team Fortress 2 for $2.49/£2.49/2,49€ for the next 30 minutes or so.

L4D2 DLC Not Revealed

Kotaku has a follow-up on what were thought to be clues about DLC plans for Left 4 Dead 2. Speaking the Eurogamer Expo, Valve's Chet Faliszek said: "If you're reading in the forums and you're reading about the "Miracle" DLC or whatever, that's test code. To get tested through Microsoft certification we had to do test scenarios with DLC. We haven't actually come out internally with what we're going to do yet."

Superstars V8 Next Challenge Announced

MCV has the announcement of Superstars V8 Next Challenge from a couple of days ago that we overlooked at the time (apologies, and thanks Gamer's Hell), saying the racing sequel is planned for release in Q1 2010:

Dream of Being a Better Gamer

Gamers: Dream Your Way to a Better Score describes the results of some experiments suggesting that dreaming is part of the learning experience, where researchers used DOOM to measure this effect.

On the second night, nearly everyone dreamed about Doom and about half dreamed about the laboratory. However, when the researchers compared players' performance before and after sleeping, only Doom-related dreaming was correlated with improvement at the game.

The researchers scored performance by analysing video recordings of the game and noting the number of player deaths, enemies killed, secret passages discovered, shooting accuracy and five other measures.

They found that the more Doom-dreaming a player did, the more likely he or she was to improve on these measures – but only up to a point. Volunteers who dreamed most about Doom didn't see the biggest gains.

Dawn of War 2: Chaos Rising Trailer

A new Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 2 Chaos Rising teaser trailer shows off more of the action in Relic's upcoming real-time strategy sequel. The clip can be found on GameVideos.

WRC Interview

Rally Italian Style on Videogame.it is an English translation of their interview with Simone Bechini of Milestone discussing WRC, their upcoming rally racing game. They cover topics including Milestone's background in racing games, competing in the world market as an Italian developer, features of their game, realism, advantages and disadvantages of licensed properties, graphics, cars, and more.

MW2 Machinima

Infinity Ward tweets about a Fight Against Grenade Spam PSA on the YouTube (NSFW) for Modern Warfare 2 starring a virtual version of Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels. Perhaps they are just courting controversy at this point, as while the premise and execution are funny, the clip begins with a marijuana reference, and the "clever" acronym of their cause is a little childish, and certainly will be offensive to some.

Out of the Blue

Happy Halloween! The occasion falling on a weekend is nice for us, as it allows both MrsBlue and I to meet and greet the kiddies. The doggies will dress up too, but we're going simple this year, as they have Giants jerseys to pose as NFL football players. Hudson the wonder dog's Eli Manning jersey is her costume, and Gunnar-man has a Brandon Jacobs jersey, but I have to admit that he's worn this already; he's had this since the start of the season because he watches all the games with me.
