The Dawn of War II Community Website announces the release of The Last
Stand, the promised free DLC for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II,
Relic's RTS sequel, though there is no mention of this yet on
Steam News. That update also
says to expect the game itself to go on sale via Steam tomorrow, but
it's actually on sale right
now at a 50% discount. They offer links to their
Final Wave contest, an
Introduction to The Last Stand, a
Video
Feature on The Last Stand, and profiles of the
Space Marine Captain, the
Ork
Mekboy, and
Eldar Farseer. Here's word on the DLC: The Last Stand update is now
available for all owners of Dawn of War II. If you're not yet an owner of the
game or haven't convinced your friend to buy it yet, keep an eye out for a sale
on Steam tomorrow. The new 370MB update to the game includes:
The Last Stand is a cooperative survival mode that gives gamers control of an
individual hero unit and drops a small multiplayer team into a battle with

MyCrysis
announces the release of the CryENGINE 3 for developers, and in conjunction with
the release, Crytek has also launched a new
MyCryENGINE Website. The announcement and the new website each offer a
streaming tech demo trailer showing off the new engine's features, and they
promise the release of a higher quality downloadable version of the tech demo
"soon." Here's a bit on the new engine's capabilities: "CryENGINE 3 also
introduces CryENGINE 3 Live Create™. It allows developers to work with a single
editor, but see and play the results in real-time on PC, PS3 and Xbox360, hooked
up to a single dev PC. The engine takes care of the conversion and optimization
of assets in real-time; enables instant, cross-platform changes to any part of
game creation and as a result materially increases the speed, quality and
significantly reduces the risk of multiplatform development."
The playable demo for Wolfenstein is now available, offering a sample of
Raven's new installment in the supernatural World War II shooter series. It
should be noted that this "M" rated demo is not intended for those under 18
years old, and is not intended for distribution in Germany. The 686 MB download
is available from
AtomicGamer,
ComputerGames.ro,
FileFront,
and Gamer's Hell.

Massively has a status report from Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment about
Stargate Worlds, their upcoming
MMORPG based on the Stargate sci-fi film and television license. They have long
been struggling with funding, and in spite of indications
over the summer that new investments had been secured, word is
they are still in financial trouble: "As for the Stargate Worlds game and
Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment, Inc., our company has struggled in the current
economic climate to raise the funding needed to successfully develop and publish
our MMORPG. While there continues to be a lot of desire, enthusiasm and
excitement about the project from our employees, investors and fans, we will not
be able to provide any updates on the development of Stargate Worlds until

partners has enabled us to identify some of the root causes and we continue to
work to address and fix them." They also note that

SouthPeak
Interactive Corporation Reports Results for Fiscal Year Ended June 30, 2009
has the latest financial reporting from the developer/publisher. Net revenues
and net losses are both up from last year, with lots of red ink associated with
the insertion of Gamecock into their corporation. On the bright side, they are
pleased with the investments they've made in their infrastructure: "These
investments in SouthPeak’s infrastructure also allowed the company, for the
first time, to launch several global titles on multiple next-gen platforms
simultaneously. Along with these expanded capabilities, system-wide flexibility
has increased, allowing SouthPeak to reposition its product pipeline and release
schedule in order to take advantage of recent changes in consumer demand and
preferences of videogame products."
