An update on the
Need for Speed Website announces
Need for Speed: SHIFT, the upcoming
installment in the racing series, will include drifting as one of its game
modes. There's a
video on the game's website featuring World Champion Drifter Vaughn Gittin,
Jr. describing his role working with the game's
designers to make sure the game satisfactorily conveys the drift of drifting in a
clip that includes a little bit of game footage.
The
Game Informer August Cover Reveal shows the cover story on this month's
issue of this gaming magazine will be
RAGE, the upcoming first-person
shooter/racer from id Software, so we should expect some new details about the
game soon. Word is: "We've got tons of exclusive dirt on the post-apocalyptic
title, including plenty of gameplay details and loads of screens."
The
Dungeons & Dragons Online: Ebberon Unlimited Interview on Crispy Gamer
is part two of a conversation with Turbine's Adam Mersky and Kate and Fernando
Paiz about the subscription-free mode coming to their MMORPG (
Part
1 is here). The lengthy conversation goes into detail about areas, combat,
skills, and more, and includes a large batch of screenshots.
A new installment of
Ask Cryptic
on the Champions Online Official Site answers some detailed questions about
Champions Online, Cryptic's upcoming superhero MMORPG. How much detail
are they going into? Well, for example, they actually answer this question: "You
discussed briefly on Ten Ton Hammer about balancing ranged vs. melee powers in
PvP. However, how is the use of travel powers being factored into this? Whatever
bonuses are given to the melee player, he/she still has to chase down the ranged
player before attacking, which would be extremely difficult if the ranged player
was faster, and impossible if he/she used flight or superjump against a melee
player whose travel power is strictly horizontal. What, if anything, is being
done to preclude this situation?"

This isn’t to say that all gamers feel and think this way. As we know,
there’s a great diversity in who plays computer and video games and how they
think. But similar to other forms of mass medium entertainment - like music,
books, and movies - the new frontier created by advances in technology,
especially Internet technology, has increased ability to transmit our
voices, images, and ideas. But it has also come with a greater capacity to
harass, bully, and spread prejudices - often times with little-to-no
repercussions.
The Globe and Mail - McGuinty's playing with the cool kids (on
Ubisoft Toronto plans). Thanks

Aerospace was once a government darling, too. Think of all the millions
that went into keeping Toronto's de Havilland Canada aloft. Next it was
biotechnology, a favourite of Mr. McGuinty's Liberal government, which is
credited by biotech firms with providing more than $3.2-billion for research
and innovation. More recently, the "creative" industries have been in vogue.
Remember the $6-million that Toronto and the province put up for the Lord of
the Rings musical? (It flopped.) And don't forget that subsidy sponge, the
auto industry. We all know how that turned out.
Oh thank heaven it's 7/11! Remember to hit
7-Eleven for your free
Slurpee today. It's a "while supplies last" deal, so with 7/11 falling on a
weekend, they might not last all day.
