The Sniper vs. Spy Update further paves the way for the upcoming Sniper/Spy
update for Team Fortress 2, introducing Jarate, a martial art involving
wizz jars some say was invented by Howard Hughes: "Jarate is a thrown jar that
splashes upon impact. When splashed on enemies, they take 35% more damage for a
period of time. Jumping in water will wash off Jarate. Jarate is also able to
short out Spies’ cloaking devices. When used on teammates, Jarate will
extinguish any fire effects." There's a pisser of a comic accompanying the

GamePolitics reports that California is going to take one of the video game
bills from California State Senator Leland Yee all the way to the Supreme Court
of the US, appealing its rejection on constitutional grounds. According to the
supplied quote from California Attorney General Jerry Brown, kids in his state
are playing some pretty wild games while their parents are off orgying:
"California’s children are exposed everyday to video games that glamorize
killing sprees, torture and sexual assault. In the face of this brutal violence,
I am petitioning the Supreme Court to allow the state to enforce its reasonable
ban on violent video game sales and rentals to minors."

The installation errors with Terminator Salvation reported
yesterday have resulted in a recall of the game (thanks Bill). Here's the
deal according to the
Official Forum: Unfortunately a defect occurred during replication of
the PC version of Terminator Salvation, which does not allow end users to
install the game. The Xbox 360 and PS3 are not affected and function properly.
We have recalled all PC copies of Terminator Salvation from retail in North
America and are currently in the process of replicating new copies. The new
copies will be on store shelves in a few days. A replacement plan for all end
users that purchased the defective units is currently being set up. Details to
get a replacement copy will be announced shortly. We apologize for any
inconvenience this may have caused the end users that purchased the defective
copy.
Bill Roper On Champions' New Date on IncGamers is an interview with the
Cryptic spokesperson Bill Roper about the recently announced delay
for Champions Online, the upcoming superhero MMORPG that's now due on
September 1. Bill offers the counterpoint to the bad news by describing how the
extra development time will be spent, describing "TONS of Bug Fixes and Polish,"
along with a great deal of additional content that's being added as well, which
will hopefully not require additional bug fixes or polish of its own. The new
content includes an "intense, story-driven introduction to Lemuria," an
"over-the-top, story-driven introduction to Monster Island," a city-wide racing
challenge, and more variety in Power Sets, Travel Powers, and Upgrades.
Left Behind Games Announces Release of Tribulation Forces, is the press
release saying the sequel to Left Behind will hit stores on June 15, though the
follow-up to the Christian-themed game has already been available online and in
Christian stores. The announcement includes complaints about the mistreatment of
the original by a "misinformation campaign," saying it may have cost their
company $200 million in shareholder value. As for the game, word is: "This new
second chapter in the LEFT BEHIND PC Game series includes significant new
features, improvements, maps and missions. The game includes 45 single player
missions including tutorials and an all-new skirmish mode allowing players to
play against the computer by themselves or with up to 7 friends online. There
are 39 skirmish battle multiplayer maps and 3 different multiplayer modes of
play." Thanks Gamer's Hell.

original Jumpgate, voice communication, ship variety, PvP changes, and more.
GamesRadar - Are expansions ruining World of Warcraft?
So how could more content possibly be a bad thing? Well, most complaints
we’ve heard seem to stem from the general way MMO expansions tend to funnel
a majority of the population into its new areas, rendering old content
obsolete. For example, The Burning Crusade provided players with a new level
cap of 70, and introduced Outland, giving level 60-plus players a new – but
comparatively smaller set of zones to play in. A mass exodus to Outland was
partially balanced by the addition of two new races and classes for both
Horde and Alliance players. Since both factions had brand new options for
starting a new level one Paladin (for the Horde) or a Shaman (for the
Alliance), there seemed to be a healthy amount of players to group with on
the way to level 60 in “classic” WoW when TBC released.
Lately more of these morning updates have been in the, well, morning, rather
than the wee hours of the night, because I don't want to post an update
consisting entirely of game and hardware reviews. Just thought I'd explain the
inconsistency there, hopefully it's not throwing anyone off too badly.
