Action video games sharpen eyesight reports on a study that says action
games, like Hannibal Chew, can make your eyes:
They said people who used a
video-game training program saw significant improvements in their ability to
notice subtle differences in shades of gray, a finding that may help people who
have trouble with night driving.
"Normally, improving contrast sensitivity means getting glasses or eye surgery
-- somehow changing the optics of the eye," said Daphne Bavelier of the
University of Rochester in New York, whose study appears in the journal Nature
Neuroscience.
"But we've found that action video games train the brain to process the existing
visual information more efficiently, and the improvements last for months after
game play stopped."
Mod DB offers download of version 1.0 of the client and server for
Decadence, a new Source-engine modification that's been in the works for about
18 months. Decadence is described as a "story-driven" Source-engine multiplayer
modification "that combines the personal relationship to characters and
surroundings of single-player games with an adrenaline filled multiplayer
experience. Decadence pits two teams against each other in a fight over
territorial control."

I'm back in the BlueTower after my visit to rural Maine. It turned out my
wireless internet was close enough to non-existent to be a problem, so all "I
found the internet hiding in a pond" commercials aside, that's something that
will need improvement before I consider updating the site from that location in
the future. That aside, it was a fun trip to some property a friend of ours has
up there, and I got to try a couple of things I, being a city boy, never had
done before, including shingling a roof and firing both a high-powered rifle and
a handgun.
