There's been no official release date announcement, but the
UK World In Conflict:
Soviet Assault Website now offers a March 13 release date for the upcoming
expansion for Massive Entertainment's World War III RTS game (thanks
Gamer's Hell). This
does not seem to just apply to the UK, as somewhere along the way this date has
been added to the
game's official
website, where it now says: "The Soviet Assault add-on will be released
together with the original World in Conflict as a part of the World in Conflict:
Complete Edition. Players that already own World in Conflict will have the
option to download the Soviet Assault expansion pack exclusively online. World
In Conflict Complete Edition and World in Conflict: Soviet Assault are set for
release in March 2009."
Patches for the PC edition of
Lord of the Rings: Conquest was released
earlier this week, updating the Tolkien-inspired action game to version 1.1.
There are separate patches for the North American, European, and Asian editions
of the game, all with the same fix to EA nation account entitlement, saying:
"Users should now be able to create new EA Nation accounts and log in." Details
and download can be found in the
Pandemic Studios Community Forums, and the North American patch is mirrored
on
Gamer's Hell.
An update on the
Need for Speed Website has a work-in-progress screenshot from the interface
for
Need for Speed Online, as well as an explanation of how the HUD works
in the upcoming MMO Need for Speed Game, currently gearing up for launch in Asia
(thanks
Gamer's Hell). Here's the accompanying description, which explains that they are
taking a customizable PC-centric approach:
When he'd sent the screen I
asked him to give me a bit more information about what we’re looking at and he
was happy to help out: “Key to the concept of NFS World Online is the user
interface which has been built from the ground up to take advantage of the PC
architecture. Instead of a traditional console view of a game, we’re using a
user-selectable gadget interface designed specifically for the PC. The system
allows the gamer to choose which components of the interface they want to add to
their game. The gadgets are really flexible and offer a wide range of display
options: docked/undocked, floating in the game window or just sitting outside of
the game space. A lot of gamers now have more than one monitor so you could keep
the game window entirely clean and then have all the gadgets sit in the other
monitor. We think it’s about time PC gamers had games that allowed them to
arrange their information their way.
A new edition of the single-player version of the
Project Reality modification for
Battlefield 2 is now available, carrying the same version 0.85 as the
recently released multiplayer version of the mod (by using the same
version number, they can pass along the savings to you!). Word is: "All of the
new Project Reality v0.85 vehicles, factions and weapons are included in this
release, which the AI makes very good use of. Unfortunately, PRSP cannot use the
Insurgency or Command and Control game modes due to the limitations of the BF2
engine. Don't worry though, the Advance and Secure (AAS) game mode works great
and will really give you a run for your money! PRSP v0.85 also comes with four
new maps. You can battle it out with the fine tuned AI in Asad Khal, Fallujah
West, Karbala and Kashan Desert." Thanks
Ant and
Planet
Battlefield.
