F.E.A.R. 2:
Project Origin - le blog officiel has follow up in the site's native French
on
yesterday's indications that release details for a
F.E.A.R.
2: Project Origin demo were near. Translating the report on the official
French blog for the first-person shooter sequel reveals that the demo will be
released for Xbox 360 and Play Station 3 on January 22, but true to previous
indications, paid subscribers to the Qore online magazine will get early access
to the PS3 demo a week before that. They also have word on the Windows demo, which is a bit more vague, but it is said to be due before the end of the month.
They say they are pushing Monolith for an exact date, and have their fingers
crossed that all three demos will be released simultaneously. Thanks

A weekend deal on
Steam offers the
X-COM- Complete Pack for
$4.99, which is almost $20.00 off this collection of classic sci-fi strategy
games. There's also a weekend promo on
GOG.com, where the good old
gamers have a $9.98
bundle of Sacrifice and Giants: Citizen Kabuto, and those who have already
purchased either title from their DRM-free marketplace can get a $1.00 discount
on the other.
An new version 1.001 demo for
Kivi's Underworld updates the sample of
Soldak Entertainment's casual hack-and-slash action/adventure with the same
changes as the
recent patch for the full game. There are separate
demos for the Windows and Mac OS editions of the game, a list of download
locations of each is on the
Kivi's Underworld
Demo Page, where word is: "In the Kivi's Underworld demo, you can play the
first 6 adventures, unlock and play 6 of the characters, and see many of the
monsters, traps, and items from the full game. The demo is also less than 50MB.
You can see the minimum and recommended
System Specs here."
The
Brian Knox Interview on Massive Gamer Magazine is an online reproduction of
their print interview with the producer on
Aion: The Tower of Eternity,
NCsoft's upcoming fantasy-themed MMORPG. One answer about beta testing in Korea
talks about the global scope of this game, and also touches on the new reality
that players no longer tend to forgive a game's shortcomings simply because it
is in "beta," so they are taking care with their preview events: "Our goal has
always been to be as globally-synced as possible. Aion is in the process of
being localized into English, French, and German. This means millions of words
are localized, which of course will take some extra time, but our goal is still
a 2009 launch. As for beta testing, the market is changing and betas aren’t what
they used to be. For better or worse, players judge your game based on your
beta. We want to make sure that even during our internal beta testing that
players are amazed by the level of polish in Aion. This high standard of quality
is something we feel is very important and we intend on proving to the world
when we launch our Exclusive Preview events in 2009 as a way of showcasing Aion
as well as soliciting feedback."
Well, we were supposed to head to my Dad's today to have the belated holiday
celebration that was postponed by weather around Christmas time. As luck would
have it, this weekend is to be filled with snowstorms, so we've rescheduled
again. A couple more setbacks, and we might be able to do this one outdoors! I'm
dreaming of a green Christmas...
