Spore: Galactic Adventures?

Amazon.com and Gamestop.com now have listings for Spore: Galactic Adventures, a Windows and MacOS product with a $29.99 price tag and a March, 2009 release date. There are no other details, but from the available information it seems likely this is the second expansion planned for Spore, EA's life simulation, as there have already been indications that a coming add-on would concentrate more on space exploration. Thanks Big Download.

Steam Sale

The Steam Holiday Sale is on, with everything in Valve's online marketplace marked down anywhere between 10% and 75%. Titles being offered for less than $10.00 include RACE 07, Team Fortress 2, and BioShock, and some products are under a dollar, such as Bejeweled, Ultimate DOOM and the expansions for the original Half-Life.

Saints Row 2 System Specs; Will Use Steam DRM

A post about the upcoming Windows edition of Saints Row 2 on the official Saint's Row 2 forums touches on system requirements and digital rights management plans for Volition's open world action sequel (thanks Big Download). Word on DRM is the game will only be using Steam for copy protection in an attempt to learn from others' missteps in this regard: "We're trying to use a very low impact DRM here, since we've seen some of the headaches faced by other major game releases in recent months. Out of the Blue

Here's hoping everyone who did the whole holiday thing this week had a good time and got home safely. One of our family gatherings was postponed until after the new year for weather, but the other was a fine old time, and the Smurfs loved their Rock Band; we even played together a bit, though of course youngsters that they are, I'm sure by the next time I see them they will be playing circles around me.
