Archived News:
The big news today out of BlizzCon is that StarCraft II is being divided into
Terrans: Wings of Liberty, Zerg: Heart of the Swarm, and Protoss:
Legacy of the Void, three separate standalone campaigns that will be sold
separately, each highlighting one of the game's races, with the decision to
subdivide the real-time strategy sequel said to be the alternative to either
delaying or scaling back the release.
Shacknews quotes
Blizzard's Rob Pardo saying the second and third games "will be like expansion
packs, but we really want them to feel like standalone products." Word is the
Zerg campaign will emphasize RPG elements, the Protoss campaign will focus on
diplomacy, and the Terran campaign will also feature a Protoss mini-campaign.
Shacknews also offers

Diablo III, Blizzard's upcoming action/RPG sequel. They have a quote on
the unveiling from Blizzard: "During the show, Blizzard Entertainment also
unveiled the game’s third playable class: the wizard. A wielder of the elements
and a master manipulator of time, the wizard can hurl environment-shattering
lightning bolts, channel explosive arcane energies, and create pockets of space
outside the normal temporal flow. BlizzCon attendees were able to adventure as
either the wizard or the previously unveiled barbarian or witch doctor, battling
alone or with up to three other players through the catacombs beneath Tristram
Cathedral to a final showdown with the Skeleton King."

VideoGamer.com
has an excerpt from the upcoming final installment in their multi-part interview
with Peter Molyneux, head lion at Lionhead. When asked about which of his
previous games he'd like to revisit, he mentions Syndicate and
Populous, though he acknowledges he is not likely to get to do so with the
rights of both games in the hands of Electronic Arts. His fondness for both
games is so great that he is fine with the idea of EA releasing a downloadable
remake of one or both: "Oh I'd love it. It would be fantastic. I've got no
qualms of somebody else doing it. I'd just love to see it updated, the concept
kept alive. It would be second best but it would still be great."

The new "code view" in the forums I mentioned the other day does not actually do
what I described, it just is a font effect. Frans has continued his work
improving the forums, now smilies can be inserted into posts by clicking them
from the legend, he also implemented a hover color for links at the behest of
the forum users. Also, thanks to 2, a new logo will go live a little later today
in celebration of the 12th anniversary of this domain.
