There's a
Saints Row 2 Q&A on GamingExcellence talking with James Tsai about the
imminent release of Saint's Row 2, Volition's open-world action sequel. The
design director on the project discusses various aspects of the game design, and
how it improves upon the original game: "From both an environmental and thematic
standpoint, the city of Stilwater has become quite a different place in the
intervening years between Saints Row and Saints Row 2. Though it's only been a
few years in terms of story, we went all out and packed in an unrealistic amount
of change because we wanted to emphasize fun and rediscovery for the players."
Also, a new launch trailer for the game is available, this can be found on
AtomicGamer,
FileFront, and
MyGameTrailers.

Thanks Mike Martinez and Ant.
I thought of a thank you I forgot this morning, which is to express gratitude to
all of you who take the time to send in news tips. The most conspicuous are Mike Martinez
and Ant, who have been so amazing about this over the years, I think it
discourages some people from thinking there is anything they haven't already
submitted. There are more than just those two, however, but I'll resist the
temptation to list them by name, because I'll surely forget someone. Anyway,
these submissions are another essential element to the process here, and I
didn't want to let the occasion pass without making note of that fact.

Cliffski’s Blog,
maintained by Positech's Cliff Harris, draws attention to a
Get our
games on Steam Petition begun by
Mode 7 Games to try
and get games by independent developers on Valve's delivery service. Here's
Cliff's comment on this: "The petition is
here.
If you have a spare 5 minutes, please sign it. Indie devs need all the support
we can get. My eyes water when I look at how much most advertising companies
charge to promote my games, so getting on steam is one way I can get in front of
lots of gamers without needing the megabucks that the big established companies
like EA have."

Today we celebrate the 12th anniversary of this site moving to its own domain,
as bluesnews.com went live on October 9, 1996. This seems like a good
opportunity to offer some thanks. From this side I thank 2 for creating the
custom logos that we've resumed displaying, as well as the main logo on which
the custom ones are based. I also once again thank Frans, who has been so
instrumental in so many things we've done around here for years, and most
recently for devoting himself to clearing up some issues on the server side of
things and implementing lots of helpful new features. Finally, most importantly,
thanks to all of you for your support all these years.
