the Rage presentation by id Software's John Carmack at the
Intel Developer Forum (IDF) where he
discussed multi-core and multithreading support in the upcoming vehicular action
game. How the game will offload rendering onto one core and game logic to another is
described, as well as descriptions of a number of different threads the game
will run, allowing some functions like AI to operate asynchronously from
tick-based game state processes.

I held off today's post from last night to try to avoid burying last nights news
too quickly, and I'm still trying to figure out how the late night updates work
with the weekend. I was going to ask for opinions about that today, but already
received a couple of unsolicited comments that suggest the wee hours update was
missed, so I guess I don't need to ask (I'm not sure why I would imagine anyone
favoring delaying an update). I think what I need to do is make sure evening
updates don't go up so late that the morning updates don't follow immediately
after.
