Today was that Florida Bar hearing for crusading attorney Jack Thompson:
Florida Bar Wants Jack Thompson Disbarred For 10 Years; Thompson Storms Out of
Hearing (thanks nin) has reportage on the hearing, and word on
Kotaku is "The recommendation means Thompson would be disbarred and
prohibited from applying to practice law again for ten years, according to 11th
Judicial Circuit of Florida spokesperson Eunice Sigler." They also have the

over the whole affair.
Turbine announces it has secured $40 million in new funding, tapping media
giant Time Warner Entertainment and investment firm GGV Capital for the new

No
multiplayer in Dark Void on Joystiq reports that there will be no
multiplayer support in Dark Void, Capcom's upcoming action game. Apparently they
had it up and running, and describe multiplayer play as "fun," but they dropped
it anyway, saying: "For this version, we have a million innovative things that
we're doing that haven't been done before and we have to get those right in the
single-player experience."
EA agrees to delay Take-Two acquisition pending FTC review has word that EA
has agreed to comply with an FTC ruling that they wait until the FTC has
completed its investigation (or 45 days after complying with their requests for
information) before completing any acquisition of Take-Two Interactive. Of
course, this is not the only obstacle that stands in the way of this union, as so
far Take-Two has not shown willingness to accept EA's offers.
Blizzplanet has a
new turn from their Diablo 3 rumor mill, under two weeks after the last
speculation that an announcement was coming for the next installment in
Blizzard's action/RPG series ( story), which was quickly debunked
( story). This new report is based on a tease from German print
magazine PC Action, which translates to promise "secret information about
a much awaited game, from a very well known game developer," in a riddle that
includes references to "Hell" and "cows," two elements very strongly associated
with Diablo. If this is indeed related to Diablo 3, it sounds like we'll know
soon enough, and if it is not, like last time, we'll likely know even sooner.
A new patch has hit the tubes for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare,
updating Infinity Ward's military shooter sequel to version 1.6. The new patch
addresses a denial of service vulnerability and also delivers the promised bonus
map pack which was paid-for content for the Xbox 360 edition of the game. The
280-some MB download apparently was a debut on
nZone (I can't find it there),
but it is definitely available on
ActionTrip,
AtomicGamer,
AusGamers,
ComputerGames.ro,
FanGaming,
FileFront,
FileShack, Gamer's Hell,
Strategy Informer,
The Patches Scrolls,
TotalGamingFiles, and

Meridian 4
announces that Bus Driver is now available, offering SCS Software's mass

debunking rumors they claim to have heard about a secret nude code, that a Bus
Driver movie is planned, or that the game is boring: Montreal, Quebec,
Canada – June 4, 2008 – Meridian4 and SCS Software are excited to announce that
Bus Driver is now available for sale in retail stores and for digital download.
“I’m pleased that this type of game can get wide spread distribution. Bus

About Bus Driver
In Bus Driver, your job is to transport passengers around an attractive and
realistic city. You must drive to a timetable on a planned route, while obeying
traffic rules, and taking care not to upset or injure your passengers. This
makes Bus Driver unlike any other driving game - the experience of driving a bus
is very different from blazing through a racing circuit.
• 12 buses to drive – detailed models inspired by
real-world buses, including London’s double-decker bus, America’s school bus,
Europe’s low floor buses and many more
• 30 routes arranged into 5 tiers with increasing
difficulty
• Multiple duties, such as driving a school bus,
transporting tourists, sight-seeing tours and even the transportation of
prisoners
• High replay value based on sophisticated system of
traffic rules and game-play related bonuses.
• Large city to drive in, with several districts of
varying styles: modern, old-town, suburb, airport, harbor and more with
day/night cycles and realistic weather conditions.
• Living roads with intelligent traffic controlled
by AI system
• Non-violent, easy to pick up gameplay, suitable
for all ages.
Matrix Games announces
that new updates are now available for both
John Tiller's
Battleground Civil War and
John Tiller's
Battleground Napoleonic Wars, addressing an issue that impacted both games.
Word is: "The comprehensive updates will bring Battleground Napoleonic Wars up
to version 1.01 and Battleground Civil War up to version 1.02. Both updates
resolve a sound-related crash issue that could arise when reaching the time
limit of a scenario."
The Project Origin
Website now offers a new "Ask the Developers" movie from Monolith's upcoming
F.E.A.R. sequel. In the movie lead designer John Mulkey and level designer Le De
Bruyn answer "a big pile" of questions picked out from community websites. Along
the way they answer that you won't be able to play as Alma in multiplayer,
joking they've considered it and that this might include a Kids in the Hall-inspired
head-squishing mode. Hopefully someone will take up their suggestion that this
would make a good game modification. The clip is also available on
Gamer's Hell.
Can somebody explain this
Panasonic Toughbook Commercial to me? Like many I find the idea of a tough
laptop appealing, and I have few doubts that these are, in the words of Van
Halen, "the toughest around." But I do not understand the point of listing a
whole bunch of desirable toughness-oriented features and saying their lawyers
will not allow them to attribute any of them to their product. In the end, this
results in them not making any claims whatsoever, though it certainly leaves the
impressions their lawyers are pretty tough.
