Capcom Entertainment
announces that Lost Planet Extreme Condition COLONIES EDITION is
gold, and due in stores on May 27: Capcom Entertainment, a leading
worldwide developer and publisher of video games, announced today that Lost
Planet: Extreme Condition COLONIES EDITION has gone gold. Lost Planet COLONIES
EDITION will be available for the Xbox 360 video game entertainment system from
Microsoft, as well as Windows-based PCs that support Games for Windows – LIVE.
The suggested retail price is $29.99. Capcom plans to ship Lost Planet COLONIES
EDITION on May 27, 2008.
This is one of the most robust updates to a Platinum title ever! Capcom has gone
above and beyond to bring the epic Lost Planet experience to an expanded
audience. Lost Planet COLONIES EDITION provides the compelling single player
experience found in the original Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, with the
addition of three new modes. In Score Attack, all enemies have points assigned
to them and the score awarded will change depending on how they are defeated,
with skilled marksmen being rewarded. For those who thrive on a challenge, Trial
Battle Mode delivers the goods, pitting players against all of the game’s
bosses, one after another. Players of both Score Attack and Trial Battle modes
will be able to compare their skills and compete for bragging rights via the
online ranking system. Finally, for fans that want to take their skills to a
whole new level, the new Off Limit Mode will allow players to take on Lost
Planet’s harsh environments and enemies with over-the-top, super-charged weapons
and a powered-up grappling hook.
Fans of multiplayer action will not be disappointed as Lost Planet COLONIES
EDITION allows them to enjoy 4 new maps, 5 new playable characters, 10 new
weapons and 7 new multiplayer modes. Players become poachers as they attempt to
steal opponents’ alien Akrid eggs in a number of individual and team play modes,
while the addition of VS Annihilator Mode assigns one robotic Vital Suit to each
team, which must be defended at all cost. Lost Planet COLONIES EDITION also
includes the feature that Lost Planet fans across the globe have been clamoring
for – the ability to play as a gigantic marauding Akrid. Revel in the chance to
turn the tables on the Snow Pirates as you assume the role of one of E.D.N.
III’s indigenous creatures in Akrid Hunting mode.
All of these modes can be played across a total of 20 diverse maps, including a
number of brand-new multiplayer arenas set in areas such as the confines of an
ancient coliseum or the broad expanse of desert. For the first time, Xbox 360
owners will be able to join up with or play against Windows-based PC gamers,
thanks to Lost Planet COLONIES EDITION’s cross-platform compatibility.

This press release
provides details on multiplayer play in GRID, the upcoming installment in
Codemasters' Race Driver motorsports series. Here's a
bit: Reflecting the ethos, spirit and attitude of the offline game, GRID
will bring the world of motorsports to life online as Codemasters today
announced that the game's multiplayer content will feature 32 exhilarating
online race events on 80 circuits at 15 intercontinental locations. Featuring up
to 12-player events with incredible full car damage, GRID's online multiplayer
races will see gamers competing in aggressive races on iconic city streets and
famous championship circuits across Europe, the U.S. and Japan.
"GRID online is the ultimate expression of what the game is all about -
collision-packed, aggressive, wheel-to-wheel racing," said Ralph Fulton, Chief
Game Designer, GRID. "Our wide range of motorsport disciplines, stunning
locations and full damage 12-player races make for a uniquely spectacular race
experience and our immersive new ranking system rewards player skill and deepens
the challenge online."
Players will earn fear and respect by taking their custom paint jobs online and
competing in a huge range of racing disciplines - from drifting around Yokohama
Docks, charging through the mean streets of Detroit, racing touring cars around
Spa-Francorchamps to competing in chaotic demolition derbies.
IncGamers has a list of undocumented changes in the new version 2.4.2 patch
for World of Warcraft, Blizzard's MMORPG. Sure, you've read the patch
notes, but these are the changes The Man doesn't want you to know about.
Eurogamer
has word that Sony is planning on using real-money transactions in The Agency,
their upcoming MMORPG. The RMTs will be handled by Live Gamer, and will also be
a part of Free Realms. The announcement is accompanied by speculation that the game
may also use a free-to-play business model, but at this time that's just an
inference they are drawing.
Thanks Ant and Mike Martinez.
A post on the
Bethesda Blog on what the developers there are playing offers hope that a
Fallout 3 demo may be in the cards, in spite of previous statements that there
will not be a demo for the coming RPG sequel ( story). The blog
entry on what Matt Grandstaff is playing says "Fallout 3 demo — over and over
again" (thanks Xlr8). We contacted Bethesda for a clarification on this, and
were informed that Matt is touring Australia and New Zealand showing off a demo
build of the game to area retailers. The demo is not going to be released
publically, and Bethesda is apologetic if this comment gave anyone a mistaken
impression.
The
Battleforge Interview on bit-tech.net chats with Volker Wertich about
Battleforge, the upcoming collectible card-based RTS game in the works at German
developer Phenomic Studio. There are some
high-resolution screenshots of the game on PC Games and a new video from the
game can be found on Gamer's
Hell and
MyGameTrailers.
Well, I'm still on call, as it seems MrsBlue may be suffering from an actual
bout of influenza. As can be imagined, this is pretty unpleasant, even as she is
feeling a bit better today, so I am really hoping she doesn't give it to me -
yuch.
