The Official
Witcher Website has word that this updated version of CD Projekt's
action/RPG is delayed (thanks
Gamer's Hell) from its planned May release
(
story). Here's word, which explains the setback, and says an
updated release date will be announced soon:
CD Projekt RED announces
that the release of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition has been delayed. The delay
can be attributed to the company’s goal of making The Witcher: Enhanced Edition
as close to a flawless product as possible. CD Projekt RED is dedicated to a
simultaneous worldwide launch, and is taking the extra time to polish each
language version to meet the high standards of the global games market. The
exact date of the premiere of the Enhanced Edition will be announced in the
upcoming days.
CD Projekt RED decided to edit some language versions to meet the highest
standards. Work continues on the English version, in which a significant amount
of dialogue is being re-recorded and over 5000 lines of the script were
rewritten, as well as the German version, in which the translation is being
improved and many characters are receiving new voice-overs.
The Witcher: Enhanced Edition will be free of the majority of criticisms noted
by fans and media in the original version of the game. The enhancements cover
two major areas: removing technical issues (loading times will be reduced by
80%, stability of the game on various operating systems will be improved, and
numerous improvements will be made to enhance fighting precision) and the
aforementioned changes in language versions. Additionally, the product will ship
to retail in a value-packed bundle that includes all language versions on a
single master disc, the D’jinni Adventure Editor and two official adventures,
the official soundtrack, an album of music inspired by The Witcher, a game
guide, a map of The Witcher’s world and more. All of the enhancements will be
available as a free download to existing game owners.
The exact date of the premiere of the Enhanced Edition will be announced in the
upcoming days.
A new version 1.1 playable demo for Night of a Million Billion Zombies! is now
available, offering what our basic math suggests will be an encounter with a
larger group of the undead than have ever lived. The download can be found on
FileFront and
Gamer's
Hell.
A pair of new trailers from The Wheelman are now available, introducing the
driving game and the main character based on actor Vin Diesel. Word is: "An
in-depth video focusing on the game's features serves as a complement to the
minute-long cinematic trailer introducing gamers to Diesel's character, expert
Wheelman Milo Burik." The features/diary clip is available from
FileFront,
Gamer's Hell,
and
MyGameTrailers. The cinematic trailer can be found on
FileFront and
Gamer's
Hell.
A new Meet the Scout trailer from Team Fortress 2 is the latest in this series
of clips highlighting classes from the teamplay shooter. The clip can be found
on
Steam, and
Steam
News has a description: "The youngest of eight boys from the south side of
Boston, the Scout learned early how to problem solve with his fists. With seven
older brothers on his side, fights tended to end before the runt of the litter
could maneuver into punching distance, so the Scout trained himself to run. He
ran everywhere, all the time, until he could beat his pack of mad dog siblings
to the fray." The download is mirrored on
Gamer's Hell.
Sorry about the missing update from yesterday. It was finally time to embark on
my computer upgrade project that was beyond overdue, and ignoring MrsBlue's sage
observation that I shouldn't count on getting the new machine ready before
updating, embarked on a process that naturally hit a few snags along the way.
Everything is humming along pretty smoothly now, but on an unrelated note, there
seems to be something wacky going on with my email, as folks have been getting
bounce messages. Hopefully I'll be able to get to the bottom of this soon
enough, and am looking forward to seeing how smoothly things run with a new
computer and new net connection.
Oh yeah, the Isaiah Thomas watch I mentioned the other day only lasted a few
hours before he was
fired as coach of
the Knicks, though arguably it was the GM's fault for sticking him
with a lousy squad. Of course he was that GM, so I guess that's fair.
